Does anyone know what exactly is in the winch recovery kit. It’s not documented in the brochure. Just a picture so can’t really make whether it’s good value. Trying to weigh up whether to put my own together or buy the Ineos/red winch kit.
I priced it up on the Red Winches UK site. Had to take a punt on a couple of the items. Came to the conclusion the deal from Ineos, prior to the latest price rise, saved about £20. Plus point the cost is buried in the total cost of the Grenadier.
Update on making your own soft shackles.
. .4-.5m is wastage but you neeed this extra length to make and work the diamond knot. I tried various prototypes including one with the “new improved stopper knot” which is called the big overhand knot , which is apparently even stronger as the two end are formed into a loops and the whole shackle threaded through itself. The downside is that the stopper knot is huge when using 10mm dyneema and 3m is required for one shackle.
