Julian Assange is out of jail perhaps he could do an inileaks
Love it. Start a bounty fund. I'm in. All the raw drawings and specs and instructions, plus bus protocols for reading/writing settings and options.

No really, if someone started an escrowed bounty for things like that, count me in. Power to the owners.

Yes, much more information should be public.
It does not have to be open source or GPL, it would be just good to get these information.
It would be no problem to pay a small fair one-time-fee like 300 EUR per full maintenance manual, or so..
also flashing ECU firmwares should be able for customers or free workshops at a very low fee or a one-time-fee.
Webasto offers free updates, you must just buy the diagnostic interface (and tons of adapters) for about 300-500 eur.

Workshop manuals can be incredibly useful, but getting your hands on one can sometimes be tricky. Some dealerships might be able to sell you a copy, but it really depends on the brand and the specific dealership. I've had luck with carmanuals websites for workshop manuals they offer digital versions for a fee. I really liked their sevices

It will be interesting to see how large and in-depth the Grenadier QM manual will be. I can see a condensed manual with systems operation, common mechanical repairs and electrical diagrams and codes still being the best option for most DIYers. I received a full NP300 Nissan Navara manual a while ago and it is over 6800 pages and covers everything with many jobs being specialised, with specialised equipment and well out of the scope of the home mechanic and some workshops. A little different to the old Haynes and Gregorys of years ago that covered most jobs well under 1000 pages.

I think you raise a really good point.

Whilst I have rebuilt engines in the past, I have no desire to see the finer details of how to strip and rebuild the IG engine, transmission, transfer box, diffs etc. I doubt if many owners would think otherwise.

Personally I would be happy with a far more basic guide including such things as servicing details, belt changes, electrical systems and fault finding.

I think transfer case and diffs would be a significant addition and most could take these on without too much issue however a BMW engine and the ZF auto transmission rebuild may be out of the scope of most as there would be to many specialist tools and procedures that would be totally unviable to buy or complete as a home mechanic. IMO just an explanation of how all the systems work technically and basic servicing would suffice for most owners and let the enthusiast be more knowledgeable about the vehicle without the in-depth technical repair information, a bit like the Haynes series of workshop manuals about tanks and aircraft from WWII.

The full WSM availability is key. When out of warranty and repair is required, it is helpful to see the full scope of work required, even if some is specialist work.

I loved and used my defender manual as well as my series manual. A shop manual is extremely valuable to me and adds value to the truck. Leather bound, water proof pages, multi ring binder please. If you want my opinion INEOS. By the way my truck is awesome period.

Where is my promised manual ?
I love the vehicle but do not like Ineos not giving us access to service information or service resetting.
Until this is sorted I am holding off ordering another Grenadier that I would like.
This help was promise and was a key attractor for purchase for me.

I have a feeling only legal action will force their hand. It's a major disappointment TBH.
the elon musk school of product fulfillment.

i wonder at what point Jim looked at the expense and hassle of running a car company, and handed it over to the bean counters to save his wealth as much as they can. It really does seem like he's moved on from the story.

He got his trucks, we got some trucks; that’s enough of a win for me. Frankly, I think he’ll just sell it to BMW so they have an offset to the G-Wagen- but even Gwagen sales (or at least mark-ups) aren’t what they used to be. The truck isn’t going to make a dent in sales, and the lack of advertising will always hinder it. I was at the recent 4x4 expo in Denver, and people in the IG booth said that most people walking by had never heard of an IG- and these are people at a 4x4 EXPO. As much as we like the off-road capabilities, if they don’t sell enough to mall-crawlers to keep numbers up this isn’t going to work out.

And that is relevant to the manuals. My only guess is that the dealers know this is really a risky venture, and they want to at least control as much of the service dollars as possible for the next 12 or so years.

Attached is a conversation I had with Greg Clark VP of the Americas prior to his departure. He did confirm the worksop manuals were coming. See the attached youtube link to see that they do exist.

Greg I am just checking back on our conversation from five months ago. I am excited to hear of the new models and programs but wish to reiterate the need of keeping the promises from years ago now. The online workshop manuals are part of what I purchased and those promises need to be elevated to the forefront so they can be met. Please let me know what my expectations for this should be. Thanks again Mark Steputis

Thanks Greg, I very much appreciate your candid and timely responses. From what I have seen, the you tube piece available on line from CAD-IT UK is a game changer and would clearly help define this new brand as a leader amongst any of its competitors. I will be content to wait, as it is said “ good things come to those who wait”. I appreciate all you and the team have done to bring this new brand to market. Best Wishes Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for confirming and for the clarification.

You’re right – we have indeed been open in our intentions to provide an accessible version of the 3D parts catalogue and repair manual and we intend to follow-through on this. The reality of what we have taken on (and achieved) in the past 12-18 months has meant that unfortunately some projects have not progressed as quickly as we originally planned. This tool is unfortunately one of them.

Launching in >40 markets around the world, doubling production capacity at Hambach and starting development of the second INEOS car line – all in 2023 – has been immensely taxing.

Sorry to have to ask for your patience on this one, but we’ll progress this just as quickly as we can. In the meantime, thank you very much for being a Grenadier customer and for your support of our new brand!

Copying Lynn and Chris to keep everyone in the loop.

Best,

Greg

The YT content is more than 2 years old. There should have been progress since then. We don't even know if the original company is still involved...
