INEOS Grenadier shuts down the entire project/production for good? 5 year 60K mile warranty gone, adios...CIAO!

I absolutely love my IG (3K miles in) but given the chatter about Recaro & the production halt, one has to wonder.

They are only having trouble getting seats so hardly think they would shut down for good.

Here in Australia they legally are required to setup to honour the warranty for all existing vehicles anyway so that isn't a worry.
No idea how US warranty laws operate but seems strange they would not need to honour warranties.

Dave, I understand but looking back personally I would have hesitated to buy the IG if i realized production was halted.

Maybe the halt (let's piggy back the story with Recaro so the street does NOT panic) has to do with lackluster global sales?

I wish them the best & looking forward to keeping my IG for many happy years to come!

Hard to find figures on what their actual global sales have been but I would think they should have been about 40,000 by now.
Their target was 25,000 a year so that would be around 50,000 max.

This has been beaten like a dead horse over the past two months... But while global sales are below expectation, US sales (the largest single market for Ineos at this time) are at or above expectation

If the plan was to not resume production in the coming months I doubt very much they'd be naming new heads of regions, opening into the largest car market in the world (China), opening into new countries (Mexico), and having a number of new US dealers chomping at the bit to open franchises.

The China angle is quite possibly the most solid statement on the future continuation plans of the brand, as they opened two dealers in China along with their announcement the same week the production pause began

More importantly what happens in the states with the five year warranty in the worst case scenario?
Worst case meaning that Ineos Automotive goes out of business? Your warranty is useless, but at that point, there would also be no dealers to have warranty service performed at

Doom & gloom! Wonder what happens with prices at that point :(

I've had my Grenadier on order since August and it's finally in and almost ready to collect. They are just adding a few extras I had requested.

I empathise with the sentiment around future uncertainty. That being said, it's pretty hard to buy a vehicle with a guaranteed future unless I opt for one of the state backed/funded manufacturers and they don't make what I want to buy.

IA recently started running off road test drives in the UK. I did one just over a week ago. This was our third test drive, but the first time we've driven it off road.

WOW! Is the word that best sums up our experience so far. I can't stop smiling when I drive the Grenadier on the road, taking it off road took it to a whole other level. I couldn't believe how robust it is at navigating through difficult terrain. You just point it where you want it to go and the Grenadier ploughs through.

If IA are tight for cash, it's strange that they would be launching this kind of expensive test drive experience.

I'm still going all in with the Grenadier, with a unanimous vote of support from my wife and kids! For me the joy of driving it (and the price) is worth the risk. I've test driven everything else equivalent out there and nothing makes me smile like the Grenadier does.

It's a niche vehicle, but is exceptional at what it does, and at current prices is an absolute steal. The similar spec'd vehicle to what I'm buying as a stock unit was > £20k more for the Defender and a lot more for the Land Cruiser etc.

Just a few weeks to go until I can pick-up my Grenadier. Very exciting!

Warren
