What did you do with your Grenadier today?

Today was more fun than yesterday
No sound as my wife mentions that I am "fairly" childish........or words to that effect.

I note Toogoom got an extensive mention in the press due to the heavy rainfall over 24 hrs and a "swift water" rescue at a local camping spot which had a flash flood "event". Hope your shed is high and dry😉

Just installed two rotopax canisters on my Bison Gear Molle panel. Now I have 2 extra gallons of gas, so I can feel more alive by testing the limits of 'empty' ..... thinking about Kramer in the Seinfeld episode, and driving my wife insane......

It was front end day today. I installed the agile Baja lights kit, the owl hidden light bar, and the owl bull bar. I still need to clean up the wiring under the hood, and run the wire up into the passenger compartment, for the light mode switch.

Looks great, but I think the light grills maybe on the wrong sides. If they're the ebay ones I've been looking at, then the straight edge is on the outside and rounded on the inside.

Picked up a big Mango.

Actually, we just stopped at The Big Mango for a mandatory Mango Sorbet (and coffee) while passing thru Bowen in North Queensland, Australia.

Look at that blue summer sky. Suck it Winter
I went to the range for the last shoot of the year last Sunday and one of the guys had several buckets full from his farm.
They are about the size of a baseball.
I took a dozen and this is what is left.

House and shed 1.5 metres above the high water mark.
Not a leak anywhere in the shed I am pleased to say.
House leaks a bit.

I washed the roof, which under the rack is a bit awkward. But these tasks are necessary, even if it's yearly.

Nothing today for my Grenadier, but I wish all of you a Happy New Year 🥂 🍾

Today is also the start of the Dakar rally, formerly known as Paris-Dakar.
The only Belgian winner was Jacky Ickx in 1983, also a good Formula 1 driver.
With an iconic picture (at least for the Belgians and ... Grenadier owners):

On the way home after fetching honey from my Bee man I spotted this Merc beast and couldn't help but do a U turn and grab the pics. What is interesting is the awesome size that it appears to be, height and width but then after studying the pics and looking at the wheels base and running a measure, not much in it, just height width and overhang, enormous. For those interested in winches it is a Superwinch from Connecticut USA and looked to me it had been repurposed[old]. the wheels and tyres were around the same height as the track along the side of the Gren. I would have loved to be behind the wheel in the cab but unfortunately the owner was about.

UNIDAN is a company in QLD that specialises in UNIMOG upgrades and sales. It looks like one of their vehicles.

Ran back up to Silverton and the Alpine Loop again today , My son and Wife wanted to check out the Alpine Loop in winter and also see Silverton Mountain Ski Resort as well. It always fun when you get to see there Bell Helicopter land.

On the way back I had to rescue a Jeep 4xe who had stuck the nose into snow bank, start of the trail really was packed snow to really ice coming out of Silverton where they were, one of Silverton ski patrol tried pulling them out with a strap, but ultimately with a little bit of digging and using traction boards on the rear wheels I drove them out of bank. I was happy I did not have to winch them out, One thing it has been while since I was in Jeep, the cabin is small, I did not really like the layout when I was trying to find the lockers. When I drove Jeeps it was CJ6's

The Grenadier had no issue with that section of the trail now later with snowier sections with it's K02's

Took a trip to the dealer and got my service due reset and picked up spare tire storage. Fitted that and tossed the tow strap and shackles in. Not long after got to test its convenience and exercise the Gren with pulling the fwd Amazon van up my driveway.

Had a blast with some incredible folks just several hours ago. Red Noland of Colorado Springs set up the first event of 2025..."Ineos Grenadier 2025 Winterfest"!

Thom Buckley, Co Owner of Red Noland dealerships, puts on these events to build a sense of community, learn some things, and bottom line have a blast!

We had nine Grenadiers for the run and enjoyed every minute of it. Thom had moved a bit ahead and set up a lunch spot where we had a campfire and ate delicious chili and cornbread with hot cider!

Enjoy!

Looks like a great event. I purchased my Grenadier from Red Noland and was wondering if their owner events would be any good. I will definitely sign up for a future edition.
