First fit of lazer light bar, this time incorporating some protection after learning a lesson the hard way! Not sure if its going to be the final style still playing with ideas.

I joined up with the Land Rover Club lads at the Linville camp site and headed west to Blackbutt and ventured north west. The tracks are pretty well washed out and rocky, mainly granite and quartz but driveable with care...not for the faint hearted, when I was back at home I said to my wife that there was one time when I wanted to get out of the car, she laughed because once upon a time she would ask me to stop, jump out of the car and jump back in after that section.
There was twelve vehicles mainly Defenders, 2 Discos a Rangie and the Grenadier. The Grenadier show her willingness. We had a bush camp for the night and then brekky and the return trip...I was the rear end vehicle with rear locker engaged and a little apprehensive.
It was all but down hill on the trip in and very steep sections, I have not done this type of climbing for some time and a new vehicle but she found her feet and walked at good speed through stuff that I had not taken her before...brilliant. We had many stop and starts and one rescue, not much damage one snapped shocky and plenty bangs and bumps.

I proved one thing over the weekend that the side steps on the Gren protected the sills but not without scars...virtually full length on both sides...the driver side step is up 2cm up higher than the back at the front end and a little warp in the mounting bracket but not bad after the punishment. At one stage the step stopped the grenadier in her tracks after me driving close to a tree, I thought we would slide past it but it was the front curve of the step passenger's side that caught it...back up a fraction right turn and away we go, a little nervie thinking there would be a crease in the door but no.

I can hear you say why not the skids...if I keep this up there maybe a change ;)

In one shot I climbed a hill and photographed to another across the way...the camp is down in the middle, pretty tuff country but lush at the camp site beside a creek

Using a Bluetooth OBD dongle combined with an app like OBD Fusion will basically provide the same functionality as the ScanGuage with it all displayed on the center screen via CarPlay. No separate display needed.
Pretty neat idea, but I’m old school and like to see all the data all the time like the scan gauge while I can also see the CarPlay on the center screen to see the music info (never listen to a radio, always playlists)……👍

Installed diff protectors and hid some spare fluids. Foam to stop chafe and rattle.
