Thanks Jean for a detailed breakdown of your delivery, including driving like Cosmo Kramer (with fuel indicating zero) - possible but not usually advisable in the low countries and a sign of madness in Australia.

Demanding that your Grenadier be in tip top condition is something I will be doing.

Just because a car is labelled the worlds most rugged 4x4 doesn't mean it shouldn't be handed over in any condition other than perfect just as, say, collecting a $120,000 Mercedes Benz.

Today ... nothing, went with the car of my wife to the supermarket (I don't want to be a mall crawler... saying I learned on this forum), went to the railway station with my , took the to go for an assignment to Brussels, came back the same way... but opened the Grenadier several times to make measurements and prepare some stuff.

What did I do today ….

• Drove 0 km
• My petrol tank is still as empty as yesterday and the day I picked it up.
• Did “build” a “cheap and ugly” trunk cover, 50 % happy, 50 % unhappy: I promise I will post some explanation about it in the next days, hoping to get some better ideas from other people.

Why didn’t I drive?
I drive a car when I need it, and that means:

• Long distances
• It’s raining
• Too cold
• For fun (holidays, etc. including "dirty tracks")
• Transporting people
• Transporting stuff
• Don’t feel in the mood to take my bicycle and/or train

And ... by the way, I like to drive, but not on the motorways: that's pure "transportation".

had taken delivery yesterday.

Today looked for a temporary solution to mount my rooftop tent. Had organized some roof rack feets from an old defender and used existing bars from my Volkswagen Bus.

Photos show my Maggiolina rtt on the grenadier.
As you see the bars are to far away from the roof; ca 10cm of space between is a bit much.
Good enough for now until a provider brings a roof bar for the grenadier.

Trialmaster, rock slider, winch, second battery, steel wheels, …

Heavy, yet to be expected: 2920 kg

Yes, no driver nor passenger. Had four roof bars in the trunk and maybe 50% of diesel.

Those rock sliders are Heavy! I've handled one off the vehicle, and it weighed a lot. I'd have no worries about their strength however

Ineos have hurt Jean so much, that after all the waiting and all the delays.... he can't even go out driving for fun..

@Spjnr have measured the lenght of the feet, ca 30cm from upper line of rain gutter.
Space between bars and rubber parts on roof is 10cm. Ideally this could be lower e.g. 5cm

My bars have a lenght of 1.75m and with my roof tent being 1.6m wide this works ok (Thule ProBar).
I would say bars with 1.6m should work as well.

First I understood that you measured the length of a feet. Probably to calculate it in metric units.

Posted this on another thread then thought it should go here too
Set off today for a trip to the seaside, first time in the car with the wife and dogs.
During the first 40 miles nearly every warning possible came up on the dash! (yellow)
The apple phone connection continually disconnected, tried resetting etc all to no avail.
Worst, the passenger air bag system became faulty and a constant, loud, high pitched warning siren playing!!
Found warning on scree(red) would not clear. Tried all ignition off, every one out, lock it up etc, still continued to wail!
Parked up in a field, took dogs for a walk, still wailing.
Turned round and drove 50 miles home, wailing all the way!
Parked on drive, wife said this thing is not fit for delivery, or driving on the road, there's no way I'm getting in this heap of shit again till its fixed. She never swears!
As far as I can see the fuse, if I take it out, disconnect's the airbag system, with all the implications that entails.
Any suggestions greatly received.
As I posted this the wailing just stopped!
Bank holiday tomorrow so no one to fetch it
I have to agree with the Mrs for once, not fit for delivery or use on the road as it is now and waiting for three months for an update is out of the question.

I think you win the Billy Bunter award with that weight. Heaviest I've seen, although just delivered vehicles lack the rock sliders which are good for 51kg.

Mine's currently 2824kg.
