What did you do with your Grenadier today?

We have a smallish generator which I don't think could practically charge a car (it would take forever), but I suppose if we had an electric vehicle we'd invest in one of those natural gas powered whole-home generators.

We could develop a generator and strap it to the car, just can't think what to call it

That’s on my list for the Summer. Something that can power what we need for a few weeks max, with minimal consumption.

Took the Grennie to the land and I was finally able to get to the lakefront at the land without having to walk through the more rough area. Can anyone recommend some underbody skid plates that are not already provided by Ineos stock? I have the red powder coating already so something that would match would be nice.

And maybe a roof rack/molle rear side window covers so I can bring gas along with me next time.

I like Mazdas idea of tiny 15k RPM rotary engine spinning a generator that is almost silent and has no vibrations... I have debated trying to build something like that with a large model airplane engine and burning alcohol..

Australians are favouring hybrids. Partly because even the weather wants to kill you. Cyclones, floods , bushfires wipe out power supplies. Unless you have a battery to go with solar you may be stranded with a pure EV.
We lost power for 4 days following a bushfire in '98.

After all everyone knows the uk is famous for its long hot summers and our very cheap lbr market. Look out China and India we are coming for you.

Last week during a normal Brisbane summer's day all public/civil servants were ordered to turn off non essential computer screens, one printer only for the office, close blinds to stop external heat etc. This was the token effort to reduce power on the now fragile grid. My friends tell me that down in the basement car park, reserved for "head sheds", the mandatory EVs for virtue signalling managers,were all on active fast chargers!!

Passenger side has a much larger airbag that helps prevent the head moving off to the side (think of hitting a pillow dead center, verses toward the edge). I wouldn't expect the Ineos dealer to know/care they are just selling parts. Here is a video of a Toyota 4 Runner that illustrates how the head sort of 'grazes' off the side of the driver's airbag and heads toward the pillar.

I hope no one ever has to find out, but odds are someone will. Its your family, and your decision, just wanted to make it know for you (or anyone else) that may not have thought about this reality before they decide to do the same..

Wouldn’t the A-pillar airbags mitigate the head going in that direction?

I bought a 10kw generator.

I had a country home in Carmel valley, CA. Rural, near the village. There i had a big propane tank to power the house heater and the stove. I think 20k gallons.
I commissioned a generator there that ran off propane, I think 12kw.

This generator started itself up when it detected power outage and every week started itself up to self test and reported faults over the Internet to me. Really great generator, but with 10x more than a portable generator...

If you buy one pay attention to THD. Try to be under 5% but ideally under 1%.
Some are awful and at 20%. Some of my electronics can't take that kind of dirty energy.

Talked to a relative in Oxnard and she said that they do rolling blackouts during high winds to prevent any errant sparks, etc…from starting fires. She said sometimes people are without power for 1-2wks if the winds don’t fall below a certain speed

We lose power many times in North Queensland. Last time was January '24 - another cyclone and related flooding. We had 4 days without power. Was nice to have fuel in multiple vehicles and have the luxury to drive occasionally in a/c to cool down. Very few pure electric vehicle households up here.

I have the SPP overland ones, they are pricy though. Rival has some now as well and you could just get them powder coated in red.
