Upgraded Transfer Case Cable Bracket: (now available in the forum store)

Speaking of loose lines... Could someone tell me what the silver insulated hose is?... The retaining clip was pulled out of the base, and the line had worked its way underneath the heat shield, just above the driveshaft...

For what it's worth, I don't think i've seen a single one of those plastic retaining clips stay in the body on that line.

You just picked yours up, right? If so, it's nice to see they implemented the running change to do full heat covering on it; the earlier (at least 02/24 and earlier) do not have any of the heat shielding on it. I first noticed that on the Quartermasters that were on display at Overland Expo West earlier this summer

It's being shipped from the USA. You might be able to find a builder to make you one in the UK.

If you’re happy to help organize a group buy then the cost comes down dramatically
Just quoted for the same package from London to the USA

It’s expensive to post things if you’re not Amazon.

Mine arrived today, plus a Forum sticker.

Fitted in a few seconds, well engineered and executed. Thank you!
Did you lift or jack the vehicle to do this? I'm getting a bit older and I've had a few rods and plates in my back. I got mine on Friday and hope to install it tomorrow on my back, in my driveway

If you feel like doing an old guy a solid maybe give me an idea where to most easily access the spot to slide under the vehicle.

I did it on my back. Slide under at the LH side rear door.

I didn't need to lift the vehicle to install mine.

Thanks for this. My old guy back appreciates the guidance.
So I did a thing today and put this bracket in. As noted by others it is easily accessible by most people under the passenger floorboard.

I say most people because if you are sporting a 52 inch chest or larger this might be a struggle for you but you've got this, it's not that far in to reach.

The retainer bolt is a T25 which means you're going to be using a quarter inch drive socket. If you're looking at this from near the edge of the vehicle you may not notice that there are 3 bolts as noted in some of the pictures, you're shooting for the center bolt.

To make it more easily accessible for me, I pulled one of the cables out of the original cable stay and put it aside which is easy to do,

Unlike most of the small torx head bolts on this truck, this bolt was not ridiculously tight. It came out and went in quite easily and I used a bit of blue locktight just to keep it in place.

The fun and funny part about this exercise today is thst it was unnecessary on my vehicle, a 2024 Trialmaster with a May '24 production date. Apparently Ineos has recognized this as a problem and installed an additional cable keeper made of plastic about 12" behind the original bracket.

I've just lit a cigar but if I feel up to it after I will grab a photo of the second cable stay.

Photos added. Would I have still put this in knowing about the added cable stay?

100% While I appreciate the effort to fix this issue, plastic is plastic and with this added layer of security, I will never think about this again.

Not sure of the production date, but my Grenadier, as delivered in December 2023 in Los Angeles, also has the “additional cable keeper” shown in your second photo (unless it was added by the dealer during a subsequent service visit).

Fascinating. I wonder how far back this problem went. I have no second thoughts on reinforcing the bracket but the only way this could be a situation is if the cables slipped out of the original bracket and the plastic bit failed, the photo I saw of this faulure was of the inboard cable rubbing the driveshaft which seems unlikely unless the plastic retainer came apart completely.

My 2Q2023 wagon VIN xxx1886 does not have the additional clamp to the body.

Thank you for sharing this. Releasing a new anything and anything with thousands of new bits is monumental. I applaud Ineos for adapting to so many things quickly. I remember so many builds delayed "for quality control".
