Towing Again

Yes quite fast I notice he didn't try to attempt the Land Rover change from low to high on the move. Risky at the best of times sort of double double declutching and praying.
Yes, I get it wrong more times than right but do try to keep my hand in by trying every so often. 😁

Hi all,
Have any of you guys found a detachable system that will lower the hight of my Trialmasters tow ball?
As it stands now the top of the tow ball, as delivered is 21" from the ground.
Normal hight is 17.5" to top of tow ball especially for us caravaners!
Anyone found an adapter that will slot into the square nato? receiver.

You can't use the 2" receiver in UK so I'm told but go for it if you dare

Are you ruling out something like this:

Have a look on Amazon they have 2" receiver that is dropped by a good few inches. You can't use a drop plate because of the spacing of the 4 upper holes they are set for NATO M12 bolts.

What are some of the Dixon Bate's actually configured for?

That looks interesting but I'd be included to stay safe and use a 2" receiver drop, at least that can be removed easily when not towing. I'd also be interested in how much the grenadier drops when the boot is loaded, rear passengers in and a caravan hooked on.

The Dixon Bate drop plates can be removed (at least the front portion of it)

I use one on my 7.5ton DAF LF to tow a 3.5 ton digger trailer about.

Very well made, heavy gauge metal all round. It'll be more than good enough for a caravan, and slides up and down to give you more options than the receiver style one

Yes, but I think the issue is going to be the spacing of the upper 4 bolt holes. The centres are closer and smaller dia hole for an M12 bolt as opposed to M16 bolts

Thanks guys, did try Devon 4x4 but got a guy who had never heard of Ineos and just said check the web site for suitable vehicles.
The EU regs that say an N1 can use the 2" receiver but not the M1 are a joke. Chances of falling foul of plod whilst towing are remote , I just want something I can detach as soon as Ive stopped towing to increase the ground clearance ;)

Not sure from that if you will use a 2" receiver or not?

If you would then I'd measure this up and see if suits.

Simple to remove/adjust. Torque the nuts up on the ball and ready to go.

Aye likewise. This is too much of an anchor time to time.

Just had a reply from Brink UK. The do make and supply the towing equipment to Ineos for the Grenadier. towing regs say loaded and hitched up top of ball must be 350mm to 420 mm high.
Mine is 525mm so not even in the ball park!
They suggested taking it up with INEOS!

That'll be Rockinger Varioblock for you then...very neat system. Whatever you fancy attaches to the receiver element (the one on the right in the first pic) with a twist: The centre element in the 1st picture is a base plate, one is required for each configuration.

The second pic shows one version of a NATO hook mounted to a baseplate for the Variobloc system.

The third pic shows the different balls available (plus lower ones from third party suppliers, like the one earlier) to be mounted to a base plate.

When no trailer is being towed, remove the attachment and cover the receiver with the black plastic cover, the one on the left in the first pic.
