Hi Idaho
Agree with almost all of your statement and would only add ‘Don’t buy THAT particular Grenadier’. Find one that most of us have. Overall, this is a vehicle for a few and not for all aspiring SUV style owners.

I'm considering buying a Grenadier Fieldmaster and have been excited about the prospect for some time, but wanted to gain some insight into buyers' experiences first...As with any car, there are pro's and con's and they will all come out in the forums, especially in 4x4 enthusiast forums such as this one, so thank you all for some insightful comments! My off-roading will be 10% and then mostly gravel roading and overlanding to go and see places off the beaten track, but no rock hopping as a sport. I've had LC100, LC200, Nissan Patrol, double cab pickups and more recently 4 VW Touaregs in a row...(great vehicle, but time for a change).

I have noticed some issues mentioned and discussed, mostly minor but the occasional steering comment does raise a concern...To buy or not to buy...that is the question? Any buyers' remorse? Would you do it again considering what you know now? Do you wish you had gone with the tried and trusted alternatives?

Looking forward to hearing from you ;-)
When I fist got my Grenadier, I would have strongly recommended it, but I have greatly changed my mind. At 13k miles, my differential and real axel broke. This is from standard driving and minor off roading. I dropped my inios off at their san diego dealership and they said they would figure out what to do. To add to the story, I do not live in San Diego, so what I am about to say was extra frustrating. I called and called without them ever giving me an answer. I would get different excuses from different people. Eventually, after 2months without my new vehicle, they told me no work has been done on it and they have officially voided my warranty. I now have not had my inios for over 2months, and if I were to just now start repairing it I would have a huge bill. I was so exited for this brand and what it stands for, by I am going back to land rover. I had to by a cheap truck used toyata truck during the 2 months just to drive to work because they were not giving me any updates. For a while I was biking to work and trusting that I would get the inios back... they have given no support, so i hope commenting on forums gets their attention to do the right thing. Regardless I will be getting rid of this forever.

Why would your warranty be voided all of a sudden? Did they suggest you somehow damaged the diff by using it incorrectly? Can they prove that? If I'm honest, there has to be more to the story than just what you've shared.

Sorry but some stuff is hard to believe....

I have had mine for almost 1 year. 6,000 miles and no issues at all. I had not driven it for a while (parked at my Son's house in another town) and after driving it a few minutes I realized it was a great buy and if it got wrecked no hesitations in getting another one. No other choice really.

They can't just void the warranty without a reason. What is the part of the story that you are not telling us. Also, something about the way your statement is written feels very off. The spelling and the grammar isn't typical of someone who can afford a $80,000 truck. What are we missing here?

Agree something missing. To be fair the poster might be dyslexic.

He said it failed at 13k. There has been a similar claim here at 17k. There was a poster on FB this morning saying the AZ service manager told him if it wasn't serviced at the 12k interval the warranty would be void. Warranty claims get sent thru ineos for approval, not the dealer. When a company is in the red, they will deny any claims with a strict adherence to the warranty.

I'm not a mathematician by trade, but it's looking as if 2+2 does actually equal 4.

Get your world self serviceable truck in for the irritatingly low 12k service on your cast gear tractor axle, or forever be on the hook, is my take away.

Are you the person who took the Grenadier on a Baja 500 or Baja 1000?

So I just got off the phone with my dealer.

I have about 2500 miles on mine, but wanted to get an oil change as soon as possible. I wanted to get the initial oil change done well before, but an un planned 2000 mile trip got in the way. Anyway, I was told by the Service Manager that INEOS installs "Break-in oil" in the Transfer cases from the factory, and this should/must be replaced within the first 12,000 miles. If the customer does not have this replaced ($1000 plus, for engine oil and transfer cases, ...but does include the Service Minder Reset...HaHa), the warranty for transfer cases is VOID!

Way back in the day (many, many days ago) it was accepted in my little circle to put in a slightly different oil in a new case for 1000 miles or so, (maybe with a detergent additive). then replace with the standard (rest of the life) fluid. So his explanation seems plausible. To Me. I have an appointment for January 10th

I have not read the warranty cover to cover....does this seem accurate?

I thought the manual said replace the differential oil at the 12k mile service but not transfer case or transmission.

I love mine, but wish I had waited until the power steering whine issue was resolved before purchasing. Mine is so bad if I could go back in time and not purchase it, I think I would.

Read his mileage.
There is no way that 1,000 miles over the oil change interval for the axle would be enough reason to void the warranty. That would never hold up if pressed. Hell, you could point to the the fact that the speedo reads about 5% high as evidence that it really isn't meaningfully pasted the required change.
