The steering pump whine is officially a issue…

When they say it’s “ normal “ what they actually mean is that,
most are not filled and bled from factory so as soon as they are started and driven it starts to damage the pump, then the owner drives it and damages the pump more.
At that point damage and noise is normal

Mines been over full since day one to the point it leaked. So that’s not accurate at all.

Well I went and purchased CHF 202 instead of the CHF 11s. But my reservoir barely needed any. BTW the CHF 202 is fully interchangeable with the 11S and is the newer spec. They've been saying online the 11S is being phased out and the 202 was created to help with pump whine. But I needed so little don't think it will make a diff.

Mine was basically full. How do you know if it's been bled or not?

My pump has a pretty noticeable whine since new (May 2024 build date). At around 1000 miles I checked the reservoir and it was low (like below the dipstick level low)

I bought a can of CHF 11S and used a turkey baster to pump out the reservoir and refilled to the proper level with fresh fluid, ran the steering lock to lock multiple times to try and bleed it out. It's my understanding that it is a self bleeding pump- don't believe theres a bleeder screw- simply running the steering lock to lock multiple times and topping off the reservoir should take care of that.

Now it is showing at proper level but the whine never went away.

It sucks I wonder if it was under filled from the factory, damaged the pump and now I'm stuck with a noisy pump.

Seems like we all may be in the same situation. Hopefully a recall will be in the
Very near future for this part

It depends. To dealers and Ineos, it's not an issue. For owners who don't want their car to sound like a beat down 2013 Altima, its an issue :)
Is the whine an actual issue? Like a heads up to a failed component? I feel mine has been getting less with time. Might switch my fluid over to CHF 202 which was to help with that.

Imo extremely unpleasant sounds at low speed like when offroading with your windows down and spotters around is an actual issue yeah. It's probably not a 'component failure' issue (although the whine does suggest hydraulic fluid is being put under quite a bit of pressure, no idea how that will play out over time) but it is an issue.
