Americas The big May 17 Announcement / Pricing / Discussion thread.

For me, Duratracs were better in snow and on ice. What I liked least about the KO2s was the way they held rocks in the treads till hitting interstate speed, I wonder how many windshields I cracked. Had each set on an Armada, equal driving conditions, etc.
I’ll just say it, KO2’s are a useless tire to me. They are not something I would ever purchase. I think they would have cost $700 to equip on my Gren, but I see that as money put toward a much better tire. So I went with the built/designed-for-the-Grenadier Bridgestones. It makes the most sense to give these a shot before I swap to 33” tires.

Pretty sure in Robert Peppers video he said Hill Descent Control didn't function in low range locked and that usually uses the ABS
Pepper refers to "brake traction control" on the Grenadier in his test comparison video. I didn't know there was any sort of traction control system. Does he mean the ESC system? If so does it equate with things like ATRAC on Toyota vehicles meaning you can avoid locking the F/R diffs when traversing brief challenging stretches? I thought it wsa an on road feature. Is it not disabled when in Offroad Mode or when center-locked, etc?

Traction control definitely exists when in off-road mode (or not) and with the center locked. It is not as responsive as ATRAC, though. Left foot braking works quite well to force the open diff'd vehicles to move with a weak wheel, and just like in our Toyotas, used much more frequently than actually locking a diff
Is there a dash-mounted switch to disable the auto start/stop? If not this will be my first hack.
There is, bottom left corner of the center stack

I have KO2s on my Wrangler Rubicon and they hold ALL of the rocks. I off-road where it's all limestone and they pick up a ton of rocks. I feel bad for the drivers behind me when I hit the interstate on the way back :)
I do prefer the look of the K02s over the Duratracs and I haven't noticed a difference off road or daily driving.

I have had both KO2s and Duratracs....would buy either again. I think KO2s are quieter/smoother on payment and I think slightly better in rain/snow on paved roads. Same experience with rocks/gravel.

My experience is pretty consistent with this comparison:

I have about 35k miles on my KO2s on my 4runner. No concerns about running them on the grenadier. Fantastic in snow and ice in our hilly roads, and they're fine on the logging roads and sand/gravel back roads I've done. (I'll admit to not being a hard core off roader.) They aren't the best on wet pavement but I don't know any all terrain will be noticably better. I was thinking about trying a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3s next, but the Grenadier will probably be here before I have a chance to swap tires again.

Indeed I use on my LR Disco Sport General Grabber AT3 ( also possible to have it on Grenadier) 265/70 -17 121 S
The wet road capability seem on all tyres with all terrain capability a bit low - I can confirm. - Hence driving a bit slower then.

I do not know if the button resets after shutdown, but this is from the owners manual. You could always shift to M(Manual) mode upon approaching a stop.

How does the vehicle know if there is a trailer attached? If it’s simply something is plugged into the rear lighting hookup, there’s probably a way to rig up something to stay in that connection.

Correct, many (most?) newer vehicles do load testing on the trailer circuits to figure out if there is a trailer hooked up (or anything plugged in for that matter)

I may try to put in a deposit if IG gets delayed or dealer games happen. Still looking forward to the IG to stand out from the crowd. But my current 2017 Tacoma base 4x4 could definitely use some of the more modern upgrades that I find usable in the IG and possibly on the next LC.

@JATT & @six1five neither of that is actually pertinent to the thread title or the conversation in this thread....

Great link to pics, @six1five. Thanks for posting that. In many of the videos I've seen, the camera work fails to capture a side shot of the rear hatch open. This pic seems top confirm a 270 degree awning would be a no go with this vehicle and one would be limited to a 180 degree setup:

What do you all think? I'd love to see a side shot with the rear hatch all the way open.
