It's probably been said here before. I wonder how many Grenadiers are sitting in dealerships because many backed out upon learning that ADAS couldn't be permanently disabled.
I can assure you that the ADAS system has no effect on my decision to purchase the IG. I am a prospective owner and have been reading this forum continuously for the last week. I have negotiated what I consider to be a great deal on a trialmaster that is available and on the lot with every option I want. What is holding me back? The electrical issues. Specifically, the battery drain issue. I do actually travel remotely with my vehicles and cannot risk the battery dying in remote Utah. My dealer sent me pictures of the unit prior to me driving to the dealership and I noticed in one of the photos that the battery SOC was at 43% and it was charging at 4amps. I have no idea how long the car sat prior to them moving it for photos but it is enough to keep me from comfortably purchasing the vehicle and trusting it for the remote travel that I plan on doing.

Both my wife and I work in corporate jobs and therefore on our Monday-Friday commutes to and from work we are in, as you say, “in office wear.” And sometimes my wife can be seen driving it around town alone.

Does that make her a “soccer mom”? No.

That does not mean that I, “won’t ever take my truck off road in a meaningful way”? No, it means I work for a living and don’t get to play all the time.

Could I drive another car as a daily? Sure, but I enjoy the Grenadier as a daily driver.

Would you be happier and less judgmental if people that drive a Grenadier always dressed like they are going on off road trip? No, because then they would be called “posers”.

What’s your point here?

Well, I believe you might have jumped around a bit or not read this thread at all and just decided to make some assumptions.

I am saying that Ineos and the Grenadiers future are heavily dependent on people such as your self proclaimed self. And people here suggesting that these trucks are not meant for the likes of you and your wife is asinine. These trucks need to be built in such a way that the hardcore Overlander and the Mall crawlers alike can both love the truck on a daily basis so they can sell enough of them to justify their existence.

Soccer mom and such was used as a generalization and an easy to grasp visual. Hope that doesn't offend you, but if it does then maybe there are some insecurities that need to be addressed. 🤷🏻

i bet there are a few. if not for the self inflicted wounds, i think they would have had good US sales year in a down market, even with pricing higher than it should be. it's new, after all.

Being contrarian.. I don't think the warning is a true deal breaker yet. Once it ships in a bit more volume then yes but right now we are getting the hardcore enthusiastic buyer and a few from the monies up class. I think price is a bigger deal breaker than warnings. At $55k for the entry model this truck would destroy the wrangler market. At $80k its a touch too far out of reach for that buyer.
And at 80k base, while the overhead console is novel, and cool, it isnt really practical in the true sense, and the rest of the trim is crushed by all other options. They can prattle on about simplicity all they want, but simplicity ='s cheap. The charm of the old defender was it being agricultural thru and thru, and the queen drove it. I'm sure stressing about volume limitations and needing volume to be cheap was a conversation at the top and not easily solved. At this level though, I would have paid the extra 5g for the New Defender interior, and I bet yuppie sales would be thru the roof. Those lockerless base units would be appealing to the comfort class and would be gone.

So when we took our Test Drive right before 4th of July, the Salesman told us "We're expecting a Software Update to fix/update/cover a few areas, including the Speed Warning etc. - any day now. We were actually expecting it tomorrow (4th of July) but they told us it would be a few more days ..." Obviously , has not happened. Everyone seems to have stories of their salespeople / Dealership saying "An Update Is Coming..."

Having said that- I can't remember if I posted this or not on here- and look, I am not saying I am RIGHT , simply passing on what my Dad read (on what I believe to be a Grenadier FB group but he's up on all that stuff, so it could have been elsewhere...) - but someone posted something along the lines of, "I just got off the phone with an actual Ineos 'Tech Support' Engineer , I had to research and talk to a ton of people before I got the Phone # - and he was very nice but very firm - There ain't no "Update" coming - everything was done for very specific reasons, both for operating information & to confirm to laws/rules/regulations/etc. - The Speed Warning thing is not getting Permanently Disabled, and the Dealers know it. We {Ineos} suspect that everyone is just being Car Salespeople - say what you need to say, sell the car, and deal with it later... " - Now does that mean there could not be Updates for technical or support purposes? Of course not. Nor does it mean it's the truth ... I've had people tell me completely contradictory or false info about all sorts of stuff before , so there is no reason to think this couldn't be the same. But the gist was, at least that, it ain't getting "Updated" ... you want it off, you gotta turn it off each time. Same with Auto-Start-Stop. Thankfully that's a pretty easy button to tap. But at this point, none of us are certain that they'll even keep producing vehicles, so maybe they simply don't care. Or bigger fish to fry.

I'm not saying, I'm just saying...
Don’t waste your time typing.. the ceo is already on record that the adas fix is coming

Although it is an issue, the dealership cars are seeing the worst of it as they never let the batteries get full charge and sometime sit for months. On mine I can leave town for 2 weeks and it gone down maybe 10%. I carry a NOCO jump starter in all of my cars so I have a always have a backup plan. All batteries can die, even without notice. I'd safely leave mine in the woods for a week backpacking trip and not lose any sleep over it.
On the flipside, the parasitic drain does need to be addressed. Its just not a huge issue IMHO.

I think you liberal snowflakes and city folk are all poseurs. None of you are REALLY committed to the true outdoor life - my wife said I could do with a little “man-scaping.” Here’s my post-spa boudoir shot. I know - “ruggedly handsome” is the phrase on everyone’s mind.

A little harsh here my friend. This is supposed to be a friendly community of like minded folks. Let's not beat people up for different life choices. If you're going to do that head over to Reddit or your favorite flavor of social media. Appreciate the understanding. Cheers

Thank you for the response. Do you have the dual battery system? My LC 200 would drain a battery over the course of a few months due to parasitic draw which was easily remedied with a trickle charger. I have no problem booking an IG up to a trickle charger as this will not be my daily driver. However, I don’t want the batteries to drain over the course of a few days or 1 night. Additionally, I have always ran a fridge on my trips and keep it running nonstop but we are moving from campsite to campsite everyday.

All righty then.. the SOC calculation is a POC. Exhibit A - I have no problem with my single battery vehicle, it is a daily driver and on the weekends I drive a few hours. Battery has never shown above 60%. I have two minor parasitic drains that I know about, the Wolfbox and a vehicle tracker. Last week I had the Ctek out to top up my motorcycle and in the pursuit of science I put it on the IG. It ran through the Ctek charging program in a short period of time but I left it hooked up until morning at which point it was fully charged. I started the vehicle up and went to the 'Electrical' screen to see my 100% but it said 66%. HOWEVER, Exhibit B, the amp draw was 0 and as I drove around for 30 minutes or so, it was always in the single digits. I submit for your consideration, the battery was fully charged and drawing almost no charge from the alternator. 66% is the new 100%, at least for me.

Thank you. This is putting my mind at ease a bit. I absolutely love the IG and would like to buy while I have a decent deal on the exact spec that I was looking to buy. Not sure if the dual battery system has more issues vs the single battery system but the car that I am looking to purchase is a dual battery spec.

I do not, yet. For daily driving and overland trips without 24x7 accessories I personally wouldn't worry about it. If I had a fridge running then you need a dual battery with start battery isolation. Personally, I run a lithium battery with a small DC-DC charger these days. It accomplished the same goal with better capacity and less weight. I stopped using Led Acid or AGM in my overland dual battery setups years ago.

The same CEO who is currently operating a company that's not actually , you know, making vehicles?

Just checking.
Well, I’m not suggesting you’re right or wrong about the existence of the fix, but, if this is your level of suspicion, what the f**k is an email from YOU going to uncover? What, shes lying to the press but Samson the undecided buyer sends a skillfully worded email? She now cracks under the pressure of your insightful Samson like wisdom, and confesses to all she wrongly decided as a CEO it’s best to bullshit directly to her customers?

Every time I worry the world is not tough enough, Pennsylvania comes to the rescue. Several weeks ago when Penn State came out to Madison (and yes, beat the Badgers), I was on a flight back to Madison the day before the game. Bunch of Penn State fans and alumni were on the flight, as well as the Fox Sports production crew. The fighting got so bad (we were still taxiing out on the runway) that the flight attendant had to threaten to have the captain return the plane to the gate. It must be something in the Wawa hoagies - or maybe in the “wuhder”

What kind of charging program did you use?

I hooked up a charger the other day and put it on the regular lead acid charge setting. Then I got to thinking that maybe the EFB battery that the Gren has, uses the AGM setting instead.
My charger doesn't have an EFB setting.
After a couple minutes of Google sleuthing and (gasp!) reading the owner's manual, I can't find what charge setting to use.
The manual is silent on the matter and google just says to use the proper charger for an EFB battery.

I finally unhooked the charger and put it away. I figure I'll et the car charge itself as it sees fit.

These trucks sit for a while before we get our hands on them. My Gren is a May 2024 build. (dual battery setup) I didn't take delivery until the first week of November (with 7 miles on the odometer). They sit for months at the port, during transport, etc. My battery charge indication holds steady in the 85-90% range. I just left my rig in my driveway for a week while I was on vacation and started it up yesterday to go to work. Battery charge was still at 89%.

There has been no parasitic draw that I am aware of. I did notice my dealer hooked my Gren up to a battery charger during the dealer prep process a few days before I picked it up (they sent me pictures) I'm sure it is part of the procedure when they get sold.

3/4 of this group doesn’t know what you mean - the other quarter, like myself, now have a visual seared into our souls that will take some significant therapy to deal with
