I have completely stopped slagging off JLR for electrical gremlins or anything else for that matter; until Ineos sort things out in their own back yard. Very embarrassing situation for those of us who have extolled the virtues of the Grenadier simplicity.

Absolutely no aspersions on what you have written regarding JLR and their approach. Just finding it difficult at present when explaining the virtues the Ineos philosophy. As for your question why Ineos might patent a new control system. Completely agree with you. An area manager I know from JLR was once telling me how a lot of their unreliability issues came from developing their own systems right down to navigation, when there were established and reliable systems already out there.Not lagging JLR off ~ just pointing out the somewhat pragmatic approach to problem solving.
I think we've known for sometime that the Grenadier was not going to be simple; perhaps more simple than others, but never simple.
One thing that has puzzled me since the beginning was Ineos going down a patented approach to the central control system; especially when it's made such a virtue of using well established suppliers and components for other major parts:

Most first impressions thus far have electrical issues... mixed with some even more basic quality issues on the finishing... we got time here in Aus for the Guinea Pig testing to be over before they land? Maybe the RHD footrest isn't the biggest issue...

At least not from a bigger company.I seem to recall quite a few videos of the prototype tour where bongs did happen and customers were told that ‘it’s just a prototype and it will be sorted out’ . Its a shame, I suspect that they were torn between a stripped down basic design that would appeal to people like me and a bells and whistles design to have more mass appeal. I suspect they have quite rightly opted for the mass appeal solution. They will sell more cars that way….

That has been normal for vehicle tyres ever since they started making them black and roundThat seems insane - should be one tyre pressure - no one’s letting the tyres down when they drop the kids off at school. 49 rear is crazy high.

Did a load of miles this afternoon with Captain M, AKA the wife. Hit every road hump I could find, spent ages off road and on miles of awful tracks deep enough to trap a tank.
Rocky never put a tyre wrong, not one warning light or any bonging at all!! I give in! Think he may be like a naughty child who suddenly realised he's taken the piss once too often!
The Captain said that's it for her off road, if she's going to shaken and stirred like that again, it had better be by Commander Bond
