Well I finally got some information out of customer services. The car has not been built. It was a ‘February’ build. So as suspected that they are definitely running behind schedule. This is on top of the publicised delay late 2022. What they couldn’t say was how far behind they are. Will it be built this month? April? May? I don’t know..

Not what I wanted to hear, but what I expected to be honest..

Yep after speaking yesterday I think they are in to managing expectations without telling you anything (if they actually know).

I was told it’s in pre-preduction and will be slowly moving through the build process. I am no expert but I know it will be built at the same speed as all the others and they won’t be pulling it off the production line whilst they work on another one, this isn’t Sofa World manufacturing plant !!

So when I said oh so it should be April delivery then, it was “weeellllll probably more May…..middle…….to the end of !!

In other words it only exists on a computer at the minute and no one know when it’s being built or delivered.

Starting to wonder why I signed that contract as the new Ranger is out and £20k less for the wildtrak model. With a Smartcap back on and a set of draws and dog box I would probably have had a it sooner and £15k cheaper, and I wouldn’t have been trying to work out how I am going to transport guns in it without having to take them apart.

So I can say at the minute I am sick of waiting even though I am not in a rush, but the more I think apart yesterdays interaction which was pleasant and polite, the more I am thinking I am being taken for a fool and it’s costing me £66k for the privilege.

The only thing I might be making is a for sale sign at this rate.

They really should do a survey of the order holders. I think they'd be surprised by the results. We will wait, but we just need to know how long. All this cloak and dagger stuff is pissing people off.

The cynical man in me wonders that maybe it's deliberate. For every original order cancelled they get to sell the same vehicle for an extra 10% as they will be paying the new price. the more of us original orderers they can shake out of the tree the better as far as the bottom line goes...

:( And this is going to obviously have a knock on impact on all following outstanding order build dates. I'm not in a rush, other than I'd like to drive it before I die of old age. And old age has a guaranteed delivery date that can't be slipped.

I think many of us who thought we might see it in the spring will be waiting till well into the summer. It's hard to see how things will be able to ramp up sufficiently to catch up again.

Well, my Toyota Hilux that was ordered end of Summer 2021 is still not here. Originally spring 22, then Oct 22, then Dec 22, then Feb 23, it was coming last week, I rang the dealer on the eta date and its now April, he didn't say which year though! So its not just Ineos, still plenty of problems getting hold of very established decent vehicles.

However i know someone who went and ordered a Jeep wrangler last week and they said its coming next month, must be a shite vehicle to get hold of it that quick!!
The new Wrangler is probably the best vehicle Jeep make, I've had a LOT to do with them in the UK on a personal and business basis (through a close friend and Jeep/offroad specialist).

However as far as I'm aware, you cant spec and order anything on your vehicle besides colour and 3 trims now..

UK customers get 1 engine choice, 1 gearbox, 1 option package (top spec)..

your only choice is colour and whether you get Rubicon, Overland or sahara (the latter 2 are almost identical)

This really streamlines the process for Jeep UK, as most orders can be fulfilled with "off the lot" vehicles.

I just got a quote on a 79 series Toyota DCPU. Brand new RHD from factory in Japan Arab spec import, no EGR, no DPF, No adblue. 23 plate uk registered. Here in 8 weeks..£70k…. I have to say I’m tempted…. No manufacturers warranty, parts availability might be iffy…. But even so.…. Its a proper sounding v8…

I looked into the Land cruisers in the UK. decided it was a no go...

70k (minimum) for a 79 V8... add to that the 15k in parts you have to bolt onto them to make them vaguely comfortable...

- remap + clutch upgrade
- seats..
- rear axle track correction (sorry i just couldn't live with that)
- underseal treatment as the Arab specs have none..
- apple carplay/android auto head unit
- interior console/storage
- wheels and tires (what they come on are laughably small)
- anything you want to do to make the rear tub more useable/ look less shit

Once you've done all that, you're left with something that's got the refinement of a 25 year old vehicle, no warranty and no dealer support.

Add to all that your buying an old design, that although very robust and reliable, is far from perfect such as suffering alternator failure when in a lot of mud... 99% of UK off-road situations. I use a 2002 Hilux as a work run around, and wouldn't want a 5 speed manual as a daily driver/ work truck/ trip vehicle... It gets very tiresome in that, let alone something I've got 80k+ wrapped up in!

Not knocking the 70s at all... I bloody love them. If I won the Euro tomorrow id buy one straight away, but it would be in addition to the Grenadier, not in place of it. It would be a 79 single cab with a tray on the back, and have the most anti-social exhaust on it I could find...

 I understand that Grange Edinburgh alone had orders for >160 several weeks ago
Grange Edinburgh is/was the largest dealer in the UK as an order collection point being the only sales agent actually in Scotland, and apparently ranked 4th in the world by country for initial advance sales orders - yet no customer vehicles delivered, nor demonstrator/s, nor any definite idea as to when it may happen. I feel desperately for the dealer Grange who ordinarily serve Aston Martin and Rolls Royce clientele, who have been exceptionally helpful in the circumstances.

It seems Ineos are intent on squeezing the absolute last vestiges of any joy from the customer order experience.

I can see the Belsaff Edition limits of 1700 (my dealer said 1600) units kicking in before too long with deliveries of some of these having to be carried over into next years allocation. With consequences for next year. This slippage is really going to screw brand loyalty up.

Last night I dreamed that Ineos was hacked, hence the mess with the contracts, cars delivered to dealers that were perhaps not ordered by anyone, non-visibility of contracts on the Ineos homepage. And the software issue. Don't we have any IT specialists in the forum?:unsicher:

They're certainly using up a lot of brand capital by remaining silent.
