Welp…I’m now in need of my THIRD windshield replacement in less than 6 months. This isn’t a crack yet, and after replacing 2 windshields, was at first thrilled it was just a chip, but was told by two glass companies they cannot repair chips/cracks “in the black”, which is the same for any vehicle, but with our ADAS camera, there’s more area potentially to impact.

I’m going to ride this one out since I can’t see it from inside, but wanted to share this with others so they are aware.

That’s an interesting down side to those with that ADAS camera fitted 🫤. The main reason I exited my new defender was to escape all that tech behind the screen! Don’t get me wrong as I loved the fancy wipers and the Lightshow was amazing especially on snow covered mountain roads in early mornings 🤩. But… I’m so glad to have less tech and just hoping to have more luck with windscreens 🤞🏽
I feel for ya !

i bought it. I figure i am lucky i haven't had a crack yet, i had a stone fly off my windshield without cracking it a week or two ago...
I'm going to moab in 2 weeks and i think i need this installed for the roadtrip....!

I just bought one too, will be interested to see how others get this installed quickly. I have been watching their social media trying to figure out how a grenadier could get one of these made, but had no idea they had one in the works.

I also ordered. Very timely. I called a local shop that does windshields. They quoted me $1280. That’s 5x the cost of this solution. Thank you.

is the consensus that Ineos dealers are the only ones equipped to properly replace the windshield, including camera calibration?
In the UK I would expect the main dealer to subcontract that task to one of the specialists ( eg Autoglass). They may just order the spare windscreen from IA. In addition the insurance companies in the UK require you use one of their "authorised" specialist ( usually includes Autoglass) before being eligible for free or £50 ( probably now £100) excess replacement. Unless IA accept the replacement as a warranty issue in which case you follow their instructions

My stone chip and resulting crack (about .75inches) resembles the UnderArmor logo. It is on the right side between the camera and visor high enough it isn't noticeable. It showed up in the 350mi range, I $20 epoxy kit stabilized it and so far at 3500mi it hasn't changed any. If it doesn't spread after winter comes and goes I'll let it ride.

Rock on the 5 South on the way to Portland Oregon. I called Safelite, they said they will get back to me.

In this big wide land Down-under my experience is that the Ineos dealers have been supplying original windscreens to specialist auto glass repair outfits with the proper tools and equipment... thankfully ADAS-related cameras are/were not part of my build😊

If you have a glass specialist closer to you they can order from the dealer if they are too far away. Hopefully your insurance will cover it
Thanks. They said they will not ship to another installer because they cannot do it safely. 3 ish week turn around about $2k. Insurance should cover all but deductible. I may go on a long road trip so considering waiting until I get back.

Thanks again.

Hope, or at least some proactive / preventative help has arrived from racing optics https://racingopticsjeep.com/product/ig2024/

I bought this and had their recommended Installer put it on yesterday. The installer comes heavily recommended by others I know so I think they are competent.
They could not install it right, it wrinkles. The installer is convinced that the material isn't pre-shrunk for the slight radius that exists in our windshield. He called the company and so I will I. I think you're better off waiting until confirmed it works based on my experience.

I needed something for my road trip so I had exoshield installed instead. I'll let you know how it works out
