I find that ironic... he got a hip pain the 79 yet the massive RHD footrest hump was perfectly ok in his Gren video... almost comical if it wasn't such an obvious issue in the GREN!
How do you suggest they re-engineer the exhaust outlet? Elongate the engine bay?
Put a Toyota engine in?
Better to fix middle aged man stiff hip problem before it becomes old man stiff hip problem (most men).

To get the 79 to a standard similar to the Gren will cost us Aussies about 20K extra for the 79, based on retail. Mate of mine has a completely rigged 79 (V8) and explored the idea of a new build for both 2024 models (Gren and 2.8 LC).
For the 79, that still leaves you without several cup holders, lack of airbags, lack of rear AC, lacking so much other stuff!!!
For the 79, you are going to sink $6-8K right off the bat, just to get the rear axle widened so it matches the front end... it is 2024 Toyota, how long you been building these skimpy rigs for now???

Sadly, he is going for the 79 still in the new config and spending the extra dollars because of long haul comfort issues in the Gren - even more 1st world picky than me.

Honestly, I would gladly go for the QM if they fixed the foot well design (i.e. start that area from scratch!), steering tilt and reach and lumbar support! Actually, I would trade in/sell and buy straight up.
LC79 rear axle track seems to upset every one. In reality a 79 out of the box will do everything most people want of it. Once the Quartermasters start getting delivered with the big touring packages there will similar money spent on them to fix perceived factory issues.

About A$6 would take away most of @trobex's concern...

I thought you would have posted a bag of cement... add sand and water!
As to engineering the foot well hump out - the fact it was left there in the first place is a disaster because honestly, I will not buy another. I was contemplating the Quartermaster on its inception, but they left the design faults in the RHD version so for now - nope! So, for now, the Gren remains the wife's vehicle of choice!
I have sat in the 76 / 79 new models - they simply do not affect your leg position or hip or thigh or foot or anything!

That will hurt my pocket I reckon. Right there is a buying answer.

He did not say, next time or I would like one. He made a commitment statement.

Question to our European and US friends: Do passengers comment/complain about the "hump" in the passenger footwell?
Would be a different experience, as you are not forced to have your foot there as no accelerator to hold down with the other! Cross your legs for all I care.

I think the main point he made was that it was a probably when wearing large boots, I have the same issue when I have to wear steel toe safety boots.
He also had to adjust his normal seating position higher than usual.

I drove up to Mackay and back a couple of weeks ago, Wednesday up and Saturday back.
If I got a $dollar for every 70 series I saw I could buy a Quartermaster for cash.
I guess a lot of people are putting up with all the 70 series shortcomings rather than going with all the modern features and functions of the alternatives.

One reason you don't see Ineos in Mackay is the dealer that was listed from the beginning never opened. Even when contacted the dealer was very limited with giving any information. I work with many LC & Hilux owners who are contractors have cattle or cane farms in the region, many know of Ineos, some are on this forum and most are sitting back waiting citing they may change brands if the support was better. Another common reason, especially from the mechanics I work with say they would not buy Euro built cars. There is strong brand loyalty with trucks, tractors, 4x4s and machinery in this region it's hard to make people change.

I stopped in at my local mechanic today.
A very small shop next to his house in Toogoom.
He only does european vehicles, particularly Mercedes and BMW
He has been following the Grenadier but first time seeing one up close.
I was hoping to get him to service it in future but he had two problems.
  1. Space it would take up in his small shop if he had to wait more than a day or 2 for parts
  2. It ended up being too wide and too close to the weight limit for his hoists.
Damn shame because he is 1.5 kms from my home and when I told him it had the B57 engine, ZF box and Brembo brakes he was very impressed.

Don't invite him round to the beast's lair Dave, he'll get shed envy.

Alternatively stick a hoist in the shed and do invite him round!

Funny thing is his name is also Dave
He owns everything he needs outright.
He walks to work in 2 minutes and only works half days on Fridays, unless he wants to take the whole day off.
He decides which jobs he takes or not.
I feel envy may be a hard one to achieve from him.

To be honest I haven't even looked under my Grenadier and only opened the bonnet recently because I heard a noise in there.
Catastrophe avoided.
I had a Goanna under there last week, scared the crap out of me when he ran out as I opened the door. Just a baby about 2 foot long.
