He should have bought the Grenadier, his reviews are always better when he buys the cars. I can see why he bought the Prado, there will be more views and aftermarket support for product placement advertising and on nearly every FB 4wd group people in general like bagging the crap out of anything Toyota which gets the viewing statistics up for income.
His followers are mostly Toyota supporters so he is feeding the demand.

Entertainment is business. Big business. That's why youtubers ain't worth a shit ever. It's a bunch of 'tards that don't need to adhere ethical standards (most don't know what that even means) advertising on platforms with section 230 immunity.

If you aren't watching them for the entertainment, there's no point in watching them at all.

RD might be enticed change to the other top selling brand in 2026 if Ford goes through with a heavy weight Ranger. High GVM like a G Wagen Pro cab chassis, straight from factory.

Here's the BMW version which has been around since 2020.
I am not a believer - does it actually do anything in real life outcomes or just theory to allow 'hybrid' to be used in marketing! The Hilux 48V system as tested still runs at 9.4/L/100km... basically minimal if any change to the previous non-48V version. I AM A SKEPTIC!

Yep, I'm picking up that you're sceptical about most things, and you definitely have a hate of milk cartons ;)

Parallel hybrid assistance drives such as the BMW system posted above by @DenisM and the Toyota 48v hybrid system are principally a bridging technology to help current ICE maintain compliance with strict exhaust emissions and fuel consumption targets via Euro 6.d and Euro 7 just around the corner.
48v tech also provides 'mild' improvements to acceleration and throttle response from standstill without burning more fuel to get the same gain. For the stop/start nay-sayers Toyota use the 48v motor to get the vehicle rolling then restart the engine like a rolling push start in a manual transmission vehicle. Toyota claim this makes the stop-start system smoother and it reduces starter motor operations.

You asked: Does it achieve anything? It's extending the life of current ICE technologies and anyone who likes ICE should be thankful for that. It's no free ride though. Hybrid tech comes with cost and weight penalties and creates packaging challenges when slipstreamed into existing platform architecture; e.g. where to hide the 48v lithium battery and associated systems? I'm looking at you 7 seat LC 250 Prado (I mean, WTF Toyota?)

We should expect the next round of B58 and B57 powered Grenadiers and Quartermasters to have a 48v mild hybrid system. This was indicated by Justin Hocevar (APAC Head of Ineos Automotive) at an owners event in Brisbane earlier this year.

A brilliant marketing move from INEOS ANZ to give Ronny a long term loaner. He has got the Toyota fanboys really thinking.

The QM cab chassis can take a 136l Brown Davis Long Range fuel tank.

The Quartemaster have the same Grenadier tire limitations? The chassis cab looks kind silly on stock tires.

* He developed left hip pain as he had nowhere to put his left foot in the 79

* Although theres a high entry cost for the Gren, once you option up something like a 79 or 300-series, you’ll have spent an equivalent (or higher) cost, as well as time to install the options.

I priced the Grenadier and 70 series when buying. The Grenadier was 20-30 grand cheaper after the fit-out. Someone else did the same and he told me the Grenadier was over 50 grand cheaper - but he did had a lot of accessories.
 
To get the 79 to a standard similar to the Gren will cost us Aussies about 20K extra for the 79, based on retail. Mate of mine has a completely rigged 79 (V8) and explored the idea of a new build for both 2024 models (Gren and 2.8 LC).
For the 79, that still leaves you without several cup holders, lack of airbags, lack of rear AC, lacking so much other stuff!!!
For the 79, you are going to sink $6-8K right off the bat, just to get the rear axle widened so it matches the front end... it is 2024 Toyota, how long you been building these skimpy rigs for now???

Sadly, he is going for the 79 still in the new config and spending the extra dollars because of long haul comfort issues in the Gren - even more 1st world picky than me.

Honestly, I would gladly go for the QM if they fixed the foot well design (i.e. start that area from scratch!), steering tilt and reach and lumbar support! Actually, I would trade in/sell and buy straight up.

I find that ironic... he got a hip pain the 79 yet the massive RHD footrest hump was perfectly ok in his Gren video... almost comical if it wasn't such an obvious issue in the GREN!
