I find that ironic... he got a hip pain the 79 yet the massive RHD footrest hump was perfectly ok in his Gren video... almost comical if it wasn't such an obvious issue in the GREN!
How do you suggest they re-engineer the exhaust outlet? Elongate the engine bay?
Put a Toyota engine in?
Better to fix middle aged man stiff hip problem before it becomes old man stiff hip problem (most men).

To get the 79 to a standard similar to the Gren will cost us Aussies about 20K extra for the 79, based on retail. Mate of mine has a completely rigged 79 (V8) and explored the idea of a new build for both 2024 models (Gren and 2.8 LC).
For the 79, that still leaves you without several cup holders, lack of airbags, lack of rear AC, lacking so much other stuff!!!
For the 79, you are going to sink $6-8K right off the bat, just to get the rear axle widened so it matches the front end... it is 2024 Toyota, how long you been building these skimpy rigs for now???

Sadly, he is going for the 79 still in the new config and spending the extra dollars because of long haul comfort issues in the Gren - even more 1st world picky than me.

Honestly, I would gladly go for the QM if they fixed the foot well design (i.e. start that area from scratch!), steering tilt and reach and lumbar support! Actually, I would trade in/sell and buy straight up.
LC79 rear axle track seems to upset every one. In reality a 79 out of the box will do everything most people want of it. Once the Quartermasters start getting delivered with the big touring packages there will similar money spent on them to fix perceived factory issues.

About A$6 would take away most of @trobex's concern...

I thought you would have posted a bag of cement... add sand and water!
As to engineering the foot well hump out - the fact it was left there in the first place is a disaster because honestly, I will not buy another. I was contemplating the Quartermaster on its inception, but they left the design faults in the RHD version so for now - nope! So, for now, the Gren remains the wife's vehicle of choice!
I have sat in the 76 / 79 new models - they simply do not affect your leg position or hip or thigh or foot or anything!

That will hurt my pocket I reckon. Right there is a buying answer.

He did not say, next time or I would like one. He made a commitment statement.
