Just talked to the wife. She is a ‘hard no’ on the vehicle if that isn’t easily defeatable. I also wonder about the ethics and legality of the demonstrators not having the tech but delivery cars do. Jeep has button on the dash for defeating the stop/start. Ineos better figure out how to work up one of those spots on the cool control areas to work on this.

Can someone confirm that the current demonstrators, not the earlier ones, don’t have this?
I recently took two test drives with the current demonstrators and ADAS was either NOT on it or it was disabled.

The demonstrator vehicles are not MY24, and thus do not have ADAS

I’ll cross post this response from IG. Kudos to them for an actual personal response over a weekend:

“ Thank you very much for contacting INEOS Automotive.

This noise that you refer to, is part of legislation mandatory for compliance in the EU, where our production is based.

All new vehicles are required to have these measures in place to ensure safe driving, if they wish to operate in the EU.

There are no exceptions for personal vehicles regardless of company.

And so, I am uncertain if there is a way to permanently disable this setting.

However I can ask the technical team if there is likely to be an update patching this in non-EU markets such as USA and Canada.etc.

I will respond to your email once correspondence is given from our technical team”

Seriously doubt that it has a measurable impact on safety. If someone is speeding, they generally know it. So are they thinking that the annoying ding is going to lessen the potential for road rage at their own vehicle?

Congratulations! Nicely spec'd. I am assuming they delivered your
G with an empty tank of gas?
All – I picked up my Grenadier earlier this week from Regal in Atlanta. They did a great job with the handover. I think I was the first delivery in the Southeast so I got the full RIG experience with the Owner, General Manager, and a whole team of other great people.

I love the Scottish White Color. It's not a Bright White like you see on Range Rovers or G-Wagons. It's more of an Eggshell and looks really sharp in my opinion. I know a lot of people went with the steel wheels. I made a last-minute change before ordering and went with the 17” Alloys. Again, I was surprised at the color, which is more of a dark grey metallic, and love it. Especially with the BFG K02s.

All of my add-ons were installed pre-delivery except the Checker Plate which will hopefully be available soon. They are easy to install so not worried about that when the time comes.

I logged about 250 miles driving back to Nashville. This included one obligatory stop at Buc-ee’s on the way back and a refill at Costco when I got back to Nashville. It drives very well at highway speeds. More corrections than driving a newer Range Rover but not bad.

I’ve had a chance to put some city miles on it over the last few days. The steering-related stuff that people have been discussing isn’t an issue or even noticeable to me.

The one issue, and it is unfortunately ‘by design,’ is the newly released ADAS system for the 2024 models. ADAS has Lane Departure, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Assist, and a few other things, is ON by default and must be turned OFF fairly deep in the display menu every time you restart the vehicle.

It’s hard to explain without experiencing it but the warning beeps and clicks are beyond annoying. For example, the clicking for ISA starts at 1 MPH over the speed limit in most cases and it’s like fingernails on the chalkboard to me. That’s even with the sound turned down to the lowest level.

This process to turn it off, which is CRAZY To me is 10 STEPS:

CarPlay > Ineos > Settings > Vehicle Settings > Vehicle Functions > ADAS Systems > Intelligent Speed Assist > Over Speed Warning > Over Speed Warning OFF > Carplay
Note: My startup screen is Carplay

AND, you have to do it EVERY SINGLE TIME you start the vehicle.

I am hoping for a software option / fix. However, it says in the manual that these features can be changed, but again, not saved after turning off the vehicle. Page 136 in the manual is attached

Overall, Looks great, rock solid on the road, and very happy with the fit and finish. But that one issue is killing the experience.

May want to mention to them that if they do not have a solution - I can bet there will be thousands of IG's that are left in the dealers from the early reservation holders - cant imagine someone would come in on the secondary market and pay $25K over sticker for something that drives someone bat shit crazy with noises and beeps

This exactly. Just last week I responded to a thread here encouraging someone who was on the fence to stick it out and take a chance on this car because of its simplicity of purpose. This nonsense really makes me rethink what I said. It's not right that our test drive vehicles didn't have this software built in. I would have never signed up in the first place I knew this is what they are pushing. To me, this is concerning and shows:

1) Where the US seems to stand in terms of their marketing priorities. Fair enough if it's a law in the EU market, create a workaround for the US.

2) They are likely running very lean in their software development department if they cannot foresee this requirement and/or create a workaround for various markets (they were able to create right hand/left hand drive variants, this is nowhere near as complex a challenge as that). What does this mean for future improvements or fixes?

3) I'm not aware of any OTA update features of this truck. Which means once they do finally create a solution to the problem, it's going to require a trip to the dealer. A large selling feature of this truck for me is to avoid the complexities and continual dealer trips of traditional vehicles.

Sorry to seem negative. This is just a really big miss in my mind. Speaks volumes. Most likely I'll have to leave mine at the dealer. Don't need additional frustrations.

“Well the first days are the hardest days.”

I recommend deep breaths. The truck literally hit our shores hours ago. These things have a way of getting sorted. Sure, sometimes it takes longer than we like. But that’s the price of early adoption.

You're not negative - but expressing the frustrations many folks are feeling to different degrees. There is a lot of emotional investment in this - hence why we all get loud fast. While we did get an easier road from EU taking deliveries first (and those some of those folks had a very tough run) - I am 'hoping' that this can be fixed quickly with a software update.

Drove one last month in PA. No such warning nonsense.

Understandable.
My understanding is that each country / block of nations / etc create the standards for the vehicles imported. What goes for the EU would not necessarily mean it would be put on NA vehicles. That said there are numerous "nanny" warnings coming to US vehicles as that have been deemed "best" for the masses - disagree. If people driving would be more attentive to driving and less attentive to phones, eating, etc these annoyances would not be created. It amazes me that we have to have all these safety contraptions on cars to "prevent" crashes but the simplicity of requiring all turning lights to be amber and in a uniform location for driver awareness has never been implemented.
Seems like we may be able to thank the autonomous cars for some of these ....
https://www.deviceauthority.com/blo...head-of-2024s-new-vehicle-safety-regulations/
Cars are being made more complicated with these devices - how many accidents have been caused by someone trying to change something annoying them by focusing on a screen, taking their eyes off the road ending up in an accident. And peoples thinking that with all these devices to prevent crashes that their cars are "self driving" which they are not!! Put down the phone and pay attention to driving. After all, you are operating something that has the potential to kill someone.

This sounds like they do not have custom software for NA? Are they just shipping the trucks worldwide with EU software?
apparently if the model is a 2024 version. Seems the one great thing for the early EU and Australian adopters is they do not have to deal with this issue. Checked with a friend who has a new Volvo. They are not dealing with this issue. So clearly a miss, indifference, or some corporate lawyer that has led Ineos down this pathway in one of the largest future markets. Maybe it is a corporate strategy to keep it a limited production run, lol
