ADAS/ISA does not depend on the GPS in the infotainment center- it uses a GPS antenna to locate the vehicle and an internal database of speed limits/zones to identify the speed limit where you are.
Then there must be some methodology in place for regular updates (if it uses GPS instead of the camera). Toyota, Subaru, and Mercedes all use the camera for this function, not GPS

Any downside to just putting it in off-road mode all the time? I know it turns off the parking sensors and start stop.
Off Road mode solves part of the problem. However, the OFFROAD lights on the small dash are REALLY bright, and annoying.

My opinion only, but I’ll deal with start stop all day before having to go 10 layers deep to turn off the speed limit nonsense. I guess we could just actually drive the speed limit… but naaaah
Completely agree with you.

Does it click at you momentarily as you exceed the speed limit?
Or does it continuously click at you the entire time you are above the limit?
on and off the entire time you are above the speed limit.

Yes. I did this s a few days ago. Still maddening but better!
Have you confirmed whether you can set the amount of speed above the limit? I'd like to set it at 15mph above speed limit.

Why is everyone suddenly so worked up about the speed limit warning? I am sure the option to alter the speed limit alert will be added in a software update (if it is not there already). Also, when I used to have Bmws - there was an option to alter the alert threshold. And my dealer was also able to program auto start/stop so it does not reset on a restart. These are all trivial things that Ineos can easily add especially since they are using the same iDrive system as Bmw.
I know this is a BMW engine but this is not a BMW. I had the BMW software and it was great to personalize the car.

I appreciate what you're saying here. The purpose of me raising this issue is for early awareness so IG will address the problem OR someone will figure out a hack.

Please take my word (for now). When you and others pick yours up, you will understand what I'm saying about the clicking. What makes it more annoying, if you want to go further down the rabbit hole, is that you can't distinguish between the clicks for Lane Departure and Over Speed ... so when they go off together, its not magically, its maddening!

you can set a speed chime for a high limit, largely for highway use. I have mine set at the highest, whatever that is. but it doesn't override the ISA function for city driving.

Range Rover has the ADAS stuff - in cold weather with ice over the sensors & camera the display told you ‘systems unavailable’. If the sounds are really unbearable cover the sensors and camera.
The bongs are annoying but you do get used to them (Citroen, Rangey, MB) and some are actually useful - lane departure/blind spot/ speed limit where there are speed cameras to give tickets out as gifts. It is the active cruise control slowing me down that I find most annoying.
I have a Range Rover, Vogue in your part of the world. I agree with you. What's different here is 1) It cant be tuned off with a button, 2) It doesn't stay off, and 3) hard to appreciate without experiencing it, It's constant and persistent.

I appreciate you making us aware of this issue. Spending 100K to constantly be annoyed was not my original plan with the IG. While the IG is the vehicle I have been waiting for a number of years, I am not going to spend that much money so I am annoyed every time I get in it. The avg speed, outside of the rush times, on 440, I-40, I-24, and I-65 are all over the speed limit. I am sorry that you have to listen to this issue every time you get on one of the interstates here.

Really appreciate you taking the time to share all this valuable information. What should be a celebration thread has turned into a mess caused by a poorly designed Ineos ADAS system. With that said, I think they will either fix this with a software update or there will be an aftermarket solution. Only problem is that it will likely take a while because this may not be on the top of their priority list and aftermarket solutions will be slow because of scarcity of the vehicle.

I was not asserting that the camera is not used, just correcting that the infotainment GPS software is unrelated.

It uses GPS & Camera recognition, to my knowledge.

That’s what IA tell us, yes

Is the ADAS system a US requirement? It's not listed in the configurator as standard equipment, nor as an option. The production model I drove at my dealer definitely didn't have ADAS.

Again, the dealer demos are not MY24 production models. It is listed on the website and in the brochure

I wonder if you can cover the sensor that's reading speed signs so it gets no reading.... Not sure what other data is needed by this however..just a thought
On my cars that have the camera version, it sometimes reads the other lane's speed or it will pickup school zones.
