I made a deal on a Fieldmaster last week and as I discussed elsewhere I decided to increase my options by just insisting on SAfari, Locking Diffs, and High Load Electrical. I decided I can add the rest.

Adding the Tow package was stupid move but it opened up my options of available vehicles. They installed the sliders, checker plate and the tow package, which is double the price if you already have the NATO plug due to some increased wiring needed. About $5000 for that option.

I am so excited to get the car and they told me it would take maybe two days to do all this. Then I heard that installs were done, but that it required a recode and that is only done on Fridays. When I called Friday afternoon they said that they have been trying all day to get it to work. Before close Friday they said the problem was that Ineos was closed on Friday due to holiday so maybe next friday. That was sales manager. The service guy says he got the package but the head unit won’t accept it. Hoping when Ineos Home Base opens on monday they can sort it out. I thought this weekend I would be wheelin!

Things I neglected to account for in not getting factory installs are mostly just Trialmaster vs Fieldmaster

1) Tinted windows - did not notice that on the lot but later looking at the photos I did easy fix
2) Inverter - Did not think about this but comes with Aux battery which I don’t have.
3) Utility rails in load space - this is expensive
4) Utility rails on side of truck. This is VERY expensive if you do all of them. $650 for rear and then about $500 per door for the four front doors. Later I say that Agile has the rear ones for super cheap.

I am sure that I will find more but I think I picked the items that can not be added later correctly. It is only money, right? If there were not Tariffs I would have ordered one. But with the increase for 2025 and the Tariffs I just wanted to get one off the lot.

Getting GP factor winch put on by Owl and will probably get the Leitner rack. Debating springs and tires, but should probably live with it for a while to see what I really want to do. Steering damper would probably be first.

Got PPF on my Defender but I feel like even though this truck is good looking, maybe just let the pin striping happen. This truck is supposed to be for use after all.

#4 doesn’t seem right - most of us paid about $200 for the rear rails (exterior) from our dealers

On the exterior rails, best thing is to just call a couple dealers and talk to their parts department- I ended up getting my exterior rear rails from the dealer in Boise (they had them in stock). I don’t really plan to ever mount stuff on the doors - I just use the rear rails to mount the Leitner Sidekick, which is great. You can use it for Rotopax or recovery boards. Bump strips on the doors help with dings in the parking lots.

I already bought the rear ones and was holding off on the front and rear doors. Agile off road has the rear ones but i did not know that at the time. The tow package was so bad i think it distracted me. If the demo car did not have damage to leather seats i would have bought that and saved some money. Just have to move forward on that.

The pain will be easier once i get it home.

Yeah that tow package is crazy expensive esp if you have the high load power (which is always nice if you want to add a winch later). But overall sounds like you got a great spec - hang in there. It will be worth it.
