Americas Tow Package install - Software Update

Can you elaborate on the "Speed clicker fixed" statement? Did the update permanently disable it?
Approaching 1k miles. I thought that once you shut that off it was off. After a few restarts, it reset back to going off, clicking away when I violate the law! Here’s the truly sad part—I actually am beginning to embrace the damn thing.

The setting does not stay persistent after a full system shut down

I got my tow hitch installed this week. The software update that came with it was just an update for the tow hitch, nothing else, and I was told there is no other software update at this time.

Just to understand,
You cannot install a receiver hitch privately without a software upgrade performed by a dealer at this time?

If you buy the hitch itself (the hardware) you can absolutely install it yourself. The software update is for the trailer module (the OEM module that handles the electronics for the trailer).

that confuses things more.

let me try again.

What purpose does the dealer reprogramming serve?

It is made to sound like you cannot just splice in a 4 flat connector (NA units) and have lights for your Jetski trailer.

The initial programming had an issue with the configuration of trailer outputs on the 7 pin connector.

Those vehicles that did not order the factory hitch option do not have that control module

I agree with everyone on tow specs as it is posted everywhere, don't kill the messenger. All I really want to know what kind of brake controller have you found that will work with our Grenadiers? Like I said the CURT 51180 Echo Mobile Electric Trailer Brake controller will not work with the Grenadier like it does with any other tow rigs Land Rover, Jeep 392, F-150. I was looking for a quick and easy solution like before; with the one I already had.
Did you try the Curt Echo, I just ordered one and and really hoping it works. Then I saw your message. What wasn't working for you?

I admit I haven't slogged through all 10 pages of this topic and I'm not the 'Tow Master' but my question is... what software is needed to tow a trailer? I mean, you tap into the wires you need for the trailer lights and away you go. In my GMC a special screen came up when you hooked up a trailer but I have the tow package on my IG and when I plugged in a trailer the only new feature that appeared was the ability for the gas gauge to drop really fast.

When a trailer is detected (by the trailer wiring) it disables the rear parking sensors and adjusts the ESP/ABS logic

Wait, you mean shouldn’t be hearing the non stop beeping telling me I’m going to back into my trailer when I’m backing up? That would be pretty nice if that were disabled when my trailer is hooked up but that isn’t happening with my hitch.
