First, sometimes I write too much ….. sorry.

My question is I am adding a winch from GP Factor. Owl Vans has an installer near me. I could have done it myself but probably happen quicker if someone else does it. Do they need to program something for the electrics to work? I have the winch pre wiring from factory already. I ask because the dealer is installing the tow package and I am a little delayed for programming. I will do the winch when it arrives, but I wonder if they need to program maybe they can do it while they have the car since the dealer is 1 hour away.

The history is:

I bought a Fieldmaster last weekend and am adding stuff. I had a Trialmaster picked out but it was a demo with every possible option. When I did a close inspection I felt that they did not adjust price enough for the scratches and damage to the leather seats. It was mainly the leather seat that bothered me, looked like folding seats down can cause a cut on the back rest. I found a new car that had the items you can not add like diffs, Safari, and roof electrics. I did not think that the Aux battery was that impressive the way they do it but I did not realize that also means no inverter. Adding stuff is way more expensive than I realized. The Tow package was about $4500 just for the wiring if you have the NATO plug. They told me it would be ready Tuesday but now I am told they are waiting on programming. Which apparently has to be coordinated with the home base.

I need to add Winch, Tow PAckage, brake Controller, Utility rails to the side, window tint. After all of that it was a stupid idea but I am already committed! I did not do door utility rails but it sort of bugs me, I usually buy a car with everything that is possible. I can’t believe the utility rails. The back set are $650 installed, but the Front set are about $2000 for all four doors. Crazy. The load space rails are almost $800 also not part of the fieldmaster. In my Defender I have inverter and load space rails and I have never used the inverter and the rails I have never moved the tie downs. Four at the corner is good enough. At least not having the rails I would not mind covering them when I get a drawer system.
