just got the email about ineos expeditions.

they are expensive, about $2,000 USD per day. Not completely out of touch expensive, but expensive.
The one i'm interested is in Namibia, but that one is over the top expensive at $4,500 per day.
And you have to be two per vehicle so with a partner its basically $9k per day.

Not a tiny amount, basically i can buy a new grenadier for the same money as 8 days in namibia for me and my wife.
And that excludes airfare, i figure probably another $10k in airfare for 2 from california west coast. Spendy... :)

At the risk of sounding a bit cynical... Last time when i signed up i never heard back from them, when i inquired 3 weeks before departure i was told i would be updated "in due time".
Never heard a beep from them.
I wonder what is going to be different this time around.

Having said that i like the basic premise. Go to africa and experience these vehicles the way they where meant to be used. Follow the trail that Ratcliffe laid out with one of the first grenadiers. That does appeal to me. quite a lot. I did south adrica, mocambique, zambia, zimbabwe and namibia in a defender 25 years ago. Would love to do it again.

That's completely out of line. It just shows what kind of clientele they would like to have. I'll be honest: I think it's far too expensive. I could pay it, but not often. At some point I'd have to do without something else.

And if I get stupid looks in a lounge in the evening because I don't order a Champagne Krug Vintage Brut 1988, I'd also have to realize that I'm in the wrong company.

No thanks. I don't need that.

That's significantly more than the equivalent LR experiences in Africa last I checked.

It's kind of interesting how the IG is billed as 'Defender' heritage, but is priced way way out of all markets that the old defender served. This is another example of what Ineos Auto wants to be, a niche luxury brand.
