Fingers crossed the next software update will address issues like this and may explain the delay? I can’t see them releasing software solely to address ADAS considering every vehicle has to go to a dealer to receive the new code. Hoping they take some pity on existing owners time and the next release addresses multiple issues so we don’t have to keep running back to the dealer every other month. I won’t hold my breath all the fixes will arrive at once but I can live in hope.

For me the ADAS adjustment has become second nature but a permanent fix would be most welcome nevertheless. My only issue is the ever changing turn signal noises and volume - like nails on a chalkboard - as one passenger put it. Last week I had the telltale module replaced to fix the noises but that did not work.

Great interview. Lynn Calder seems legit. interesting tidbit is that 30k units annually goes a bit beyond their breakeven number. that is really good to hear.

Agreed. From Lynn:

"I love my job"
"Am I allowed to swear? My job is f-ing hard"....
"we are a startup distributing product in 50 countries" ...
"Supply chain is hard .... we have 1,400 parts that go into the grenadier"

Overall, when you step back, they have really done a fantastic job with year 1 product.

I also hope when the software update rolls out, it will let owners reset the oil change/maintenance reminders.

Sounds petty, but this is one of issues keeping me on the sidelines, #1 being dealership proximity.

As a fellow Scottish person it was nice to listen to Lynn as she does seem legit and has the right perspective on things for the brand. What an interesting time to be involved with IA I would think.

I like the idea of the auto industry moving more toward well operated but smaller niche manufactures compared to multiple-brand conglomerates which end up destroying the company due to their financial shortsightedness. I hope Ineos proves to the industry there is other paths manufactures can follow if they remain focused on their customer. Interesting to see how this will all play out so I’m staying optimistic about the brand.

Really interesting to hear that the Grenadier is utilizing “37” processors…
I remember the late 80’s BMW 7 series having over 100 processors and that is pushing 35 plus years ago…
Ineos is walking the walk!

Lets be honest. Its not really processors... its microcontrollers. Technically a processor but not exactly as capable as lets say your cell phone or your smart watch.
Engine control unit
Transmission control unit
ABS control Unit
Climate Control unit
AEB unit
lane marker detector
infotainment unit (and i assume the display part must be asil B since it has the speedo on it?)
Forward parking alert unit
Rear parking alert unit
Rear camera processing unit
battery charge controller
Seat belt control unit
Airbag unit
Pre-tensioner unit
Door light unit
Alarm unit
Remote control unit
Offroad mode control unit (probably part of an overhead switch processing unit)
Body roll control unit (anti-sway)
Speedo control unit
RPM control unit

and so on.. 37 isn't that much.

I think on the very, very analog 2019 camry i went through the E/E system for i found something like 100 microcontrollers. Many was just doing protocol conversion logic to make themselves signal compatible with some arcane vehicle signaling protocol.
