I am excited by what I'm seeing so far and I need to get up to the dealer in High Point North Carolina for a couple of test drives.
Am I crazy for thinking about trading in my 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD AT4X AEV?

I'm seeing in the forum people speaking about a diesel engine but when I'm designing my order on the website I don't see that option anywhere. Are they not selling the diesel engine in America?
I love idea of the Alu-cab conversion, but I also hear there are many other projects in the works not only from Ineos but the aftermarket guys as well.

Yeah in the states we only get the gas (B58).
Thank you for the reply that could be a dealbreaker for me though...

I wonder who made that silly decision?
I'm pretty sure the rest of the world has stricter emissions than we do so that can't be it.

Blame our brilliant government- if I were BMW or any other engine manufacturer, I would not offer long-term emissions certification for the US market, either - the Grenadier doesn’t take the chicken tax hit (although the Quartmaster does) - but then it has exposure with all the regulatory bi-polar disorder in the US. They would have offered it if they could have de-risked it; guaranteed.

every time someone comes out with a diesel it sells like ass compared to the gasser due to low volume pricing, thats why they get cancelled. It isn't the "deep state" out to get you. grenadier looked at the 1/2 ton diesel truck sales figures, and decided not to lose more money than it needed to. Does anyone besides chevy even offer one any more?

Are you seriously suggesting the gub’ment isn’t out to get me? I wonder which is the chicken and which is the egg in this case regulatory ambivalence or market pricing/volume? Either way, I don’t think Ineos just excluded the B57 on a whim.

I believe BMW decided not to have any more diesels in their range in the US and that was the reason behind Ineos not going with the diesel

I had a diesel full size Range Rover L405. Loved it and it did get better MPG than the gas alternatives but it wasn't any less expensive because here in the Peoples' Republic of Kalifornia diesel is a full dollar a gallon more than petrol. Also, a modern emissions legal diesel is every bit as complicated as a petrol engine. What always bothered me is that if you run out of DEF then the software will prevent the engine for even running in limp mode. The US is trying to completely kill off diesel sales in their crazy push to EV's.

@Zimm is correct. BMW stopped selling the diesel engine here in the US because no one would buy it. LR stopped selling their diesel because no one would buy it. VW/Audi because they messed it up for all of us so no one will buy it. If diesel sold so well, why doesn't the big three make diesel SUV across their whole line? No deep state just bad sales in America.

I would love there to be a deep state to blame for all the ill's. Simple is so appealing. The sad reality is, it's always just 9 stupid people unwittingly working in concert to f**k up the efforts of one smart one.

Back to the OP - sure, you could pass because you can’t get the B57 in the US, but then you would be missing out on a lifetime of speculating and pontificating on theineosforum.com - just like this thread.

How could you POSSIBLY give that up? It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

I can’t comment on your mental state.
I can say the two vehicles bear no resemblance.
To answer your question more completely, I would recommend you make a list of the 15 best aspects of your truck, and then line for line compare them to a Grenadier at a local dealer.
Then look at how you might use it (honestly, and in private) and make your decision.

$90,000.00 means different things to different people.

Or I could just bide my time for a year or so until the new refreshing government throws out most of the deep state actors and reverses a large portion of the overreaching EPA nonsense put in place due to a climate hoax.

I was counting on this new old-school machine to become a heritage over lander for my grandchildren but for now that must be put on hold...

The biggest reason diesels don't sell well, except for heavy towing applications, is because what is easily possible with a diesel is being restricted by government interference. An unmolested diesel can idle for days just sipping fuel and never causing extreme heat. Diesel cost far less to manufacture than gasoline yet they charge more for it. The government mandated add-ons only provide a small percentage of one percent of an improvement on emissions and they literally destroy the diesel engine from the inside out. The tiny advantage you might see by injecting urine into your exhaust could easily be offset by a quality tuning such as provided by BANKs engineering and others. A properly maintained diesel will last 4 to 6 times longer than any gasoline engine.

NO!!! You did NOT need to feed his ego. Michigan is already too smug as it is. There are rules on this forum, which you as a prospective buyer are not yet expected to know, like not feeding a gremlin after midnight. Don’t give props to people from Michigan.
