Here's the reply I received: "We are awaiting LRA to announce their option. Should be soon that we know something." I view that as encouraging.
Having ordered from them (through my local dealer) and emailing them previously for those two (at the time new) tanks, this is encouraging

They are, Long Range (in the US Long Range America) sells very similar set ups for 80/100/200 series LC's, 3/4/5th gen 4Runners, GXs, etc
I have a LRA 40 gal aux tank on my 200 series. It is so amazing to go from such limited range to 64 gal total onboard.

So if the LRA tank is roughly 18 gallons… and the petrol cars don’t have the 4.5 gallon AdBlue tank, I’m wondering the possibility of two tanks in that area.. one for fuel and one for water - split more like 12 for fuel, 10 for water.

I just finished installing the Brown Davis tank to my diesel Grenadier a couple of days ago up my driveway, so outside in the middle of winter it took me more than the 6 hours that Brown Davis quote, in fact more like 12 hours.
I don't think I work as fast as I used to, but if I did another one I think it would be 2 to 3 hours quicker, so probably 9 or 10 hours.
There are a couple of things left off the instructions that may help others, one is you have to cut the captive nuts off the rear bash plate support legs and repaint them so that you can attach the support brackets for the new tank.
The instructions don't give you the length to cut off the factory tank entry 38mm filler hose to install the new truck stop friendly filler neck and T junction, the answer is 40 - 45mm so to get to that length I did a 15mm cut, then an attempted fit, then another 15mm and a attempted fit, then 10 mm, and it then fitted, that will save you a bit of time.
The supplied loom wasn't long enough, but I used A firewall grommet as the entry point, ( the instructions want you to go through the floor ) but adding some extra wire is an easy fix.
For the power supply for the fuel pump and fuel gauge I used the front right footwell auxiliary power outlet ( very easy ) as there was no way I was going to use the supplied interruption clamp in to an ignition wire as suggested in the instructions.
I like the idea of being able to transfer fuel in to the main tank while at camp, and without the ignition on.
But overall the tank is very well made, and fits perfectly, and no special tools are required.
If you have access to a hoist the fitting time may be closer to the quoted 6 hours.
The 2 supplied "hose fuel emission 38mm X 60mm length" would be far easier to fit if they were 100 to 120mm in length.
Overall I am happy with the quality of the Brown Davis tank.
I used a V6 ( Buick motor for Americans ) VN Commodore steel fuel filter as they are the biggest inline fuel filters you can get, instead of the small in comparison Brown Davis supplied plastic fuel filter.

Most helpful @Steve.B(y) thank you also for the "what they don't tell you" tips!

I’ve just posted this in the Long Range America thread but thought ide post here incase anybody who is interested in an auxiliary fuel tank hasn’t read that thread.

For those of us in the U.K. that are interested in the auxiliary fuel tank from long range America. I’ve been in touch with them but they don’t currently ship to the U.K. I’ve been speaking to @RyanT at Buzz Special vehicles and they can help facilitate shipping from the USA via OK4WD as they are agents for Buzz kit in the USA and Buzz agents for GP factor kit in the U.K. so have regular shipments both ways.
So once I hear more from Long Range America re release date and costs etc. we can then do a show of hands and try and sort the shipping via Buzz.
For those that are interested please reach out to Long Range America and register your interest as this will give them an idea of likely demand in the U.K. and farther afield.

I would love to find a water tank in this form factor. Having onboard water is a game-changer for trips to the desert.
I have been trying to find a good spot for an on board water tank. Would love that as well!

@globalgregors has posted a footwell water tank (BOAB I think) for 5 seater models on the forum. I have a stainless steel tank in my 2 seater and VAAST has some choices for molle panels and roof racks.

Australian options include (they can give you some ideas):
TANKS – WATER AND FUEL
  1. Expedition HQ has a selection of water, diesel and water tanks, fuel here and water here;
  2. DUNN & WATSON water tanks here;
  3. The generic Jerry can used for fuel and water is commonly available. They can be carried inside the car (water), on the roof rack or molle panels on the car;
  4. BOAB Offroad has fuel and water tanks, look here; and
  5. ORS can fit stainless steel water tanks (including for the Grenadier, I have one installed), look here.

It was a Pak Off Road water tank. I got one for Henry (see his blog) and it fits perfectly. Cutout for the centre console is a bit wider than the other I looked at.

One more brand I can add to the list. Thanks.

EDIT: added to the list. That list is so long now I am struggling to keep track. I completely missed that tank maker.

Thanks for sharing all these options! I am hoping to have a permanent tank with a fill and a retracting hose. All hidden in cargo area or under vehicle. Those Dunn and watson arch tanks might do the trick if they fit.

Brown Davis in Australia has released the auxiliary fuel tank that will go across the rear of the vehicle.
its around AUD$1,900 plus around 6 hours to fit. It is well built and if you follow the thread you can see about 15 photos of the fitting (bash plate goes back on)
I just ordered mine and its already a three month wait!!

The next batch of BD aux. tanks is due to be available sometime in October.
I've put in an order and on request, they kindly sent me the fitting instructions :)
One observation/question I have for those who have already fitted the tank: Both the standard tank and the aux. tank are filled simultaneously through the (enlarged) filler, but the original tank empties first , hence the need for the transfer pump?
In other words, even when not travelling on an extended trip, one is still carrying extra fuel.
This means, (as in light aircraft for example), the practice of keeping the tanks topped up when not in use reduces the amount of water condensation in the tank(s) particularly when operating in areas of high humidity?

From BD or long range? Long range in USA are saying they have a petrol tank available.
Thanks. I didn’t realise it was available yet. I have reached out to them in the past to let me know when the tank would be available. I must contact them again. 👍🏼

Its not available yet, still in the design phase... They preemptively stated they "had" one, but they don't even have the capacity decided upon yet

So yea, I called them too about a aux tank for QM. I figure if I order a alu black tray from LRA might as well do the aux tank at the same time. Chris stated that they were premature in announcing they had one. They are suppose to get one to test out soon. Sounds like it would go where the DEF, so extra 12 to 15. He even discussed doing a whole new tank versus adding a aux tank, if I understood him correctly. Sorry for getting you excited.
