Fuel economy

Just completed a round trip of about 4200km in our petrol Trailmaster mostly motorway averaged 114km/hr (140km/h on motorway) Went from the French alps down through Spain to Faro in Portugal and then back home via the Sierra Nevada so hit a few hills.

The dash said 18.4 L/100km so about 15.3 mpg not ideal as that was not towing but with a full boot of luggage… 🤷‍♂️

Hoping that as the miles mount, the figures improve. Good start for you. 4200 KM straight off the bat.

Australia, both diesel and petrol are now at $2.20 and have been for nearly 2 weeks in our area. No sign of it coming down... funnily enough oil is up only about $6US a barrel (or 8%) yet prices here have gone from $1.59 to $2.29 in the same two weeks. I think like Alan Joyce ripping of Quantas customers - fuel importers are doing the same!
Petrol is well over NZ$3.10/litre in New Zealand!

Germany, monday morning
E5 2,00€/l
E10 1,94€/l
100 Oktan (called super plus) 2,25€/l

Average consumption petrol with RTT 15.0l/100km
without RTT. 13.5-14.00L/100km
now driven ~6000km

Today’s trip to work. Mostly motorway with stop start traffic on Edinburgh’s bypass and through the middle of Glasgow. About 100 miles.

I’m quite pleased with this. Wasn’t going slow, just keeping up with traffic.

Fieldmaster Diesel with Dueler tyres
So far 3500km in the first month
Average consumption: 10.5L/100km (also measured after topping up)
Consumption is pretty sensitive to the weight of your foot ;-)
My typical trip is 40km from home in the country side to the city: going downhill from 350m above sea level to 50m above sea level 9L/100km and on the way back uphill 11.5/100km including 10km of city centre traffic.
Highway consumption at 120km speed is between 11.5 and 12L/100km
Not too bad but a new G-Class 400 Diesel consumes one Liter less according to my friend's experience.

Good morning Tom,

On the Motorway / duel carriage way run Tonbridge, Kent - Plymouth and back [498 miles ] the average was 30.1 MPG UK gallons diesel .

Round town and short trips its about 26-27 MPG.

it doesn't seem bad to me also considering the few km of the engine

Are you planning an early oil change?

Tires will also make a difference - K02's are not the most efficient - and for most a good set of all season tires for day to day driving will help.
