Fuel economy

Lets first see DaveB's numbers.

And there's me thinking it referred to a gentle lap of the Ring of Kerry ...

it doesn't seem bad to me also considering the few km of the engine

Are you planning an early oil change?
I was told that in September I should get a new transfer case - did hear or feel any issues though (nor on-road neither off-road). Re the oil change I am not sure but for all my bikes when going off-road I am changing oil every 5k.

Did a real world test today to check the accuracy of the on board computer…
Note My car is running 285/70/17 so not standard tyres. This means that the odometer reads true. (Almost) so this is a pretty accurate figure.
367 miles covered.
70.5 litres (15.52 Imp Gallons) used.
computer said 25.5 Mpg
actual 23.67 Mpg.

That makes me feel a little better - that translates to 19.71 MPG US. And on larger tires than standard which are 255/70 R18's so mileage might improve there too

Petrol or Diesel?

I think across driving styles the petrol is 5 imperial mpg worse than the petrol. I have done more miles in the petrol than the diesel so far.
Bu your petrol is so cheap that it will still be cheaper to run than my diesel.

Diesel in CA is not as bad as your prices - its about $6.00 per gallon here

yes but we'd all pay the difference to get the extra mileage per tank. I don't think IG buyers are as concerned about MPG as they are with MPT (miles per tank). I really don't get why companies are so reluctant to sell diesel engines here, I guess its government red-tape. I don't think they have trouble selling them. I owned a TDI Volkswagen back in the day and when it came time to part with it, I had people beating down my door trying to buy it.

yesterday 300km to Netherland coast, RTT, full load car + 2 bikes on the hook.
12.1 l/100km🤗 Petrol! , strictly following the speed limit of 100km/h
That’s very good. I’ll be happy if I can achieve that with my petrol Grenadier 👍🏼

Each time someone calls in Mpg... I have to convert it to Metric. To the countries that are stuck in the 1800s...
