Under the front passenger seat. Literally just a couple of 3M velcro command strips. It's really sloppy but it works and moved the extinguisher way down the list of things to do.

Depending on the size of the extinguisher, under the front seat is the most accessible in an area emergency. However, I fabricated a mount inside the rearmost pillar facing forward, as this is dead space and out of the way.
I was concerned about the structural rigidity of the plastic so I fabricated two aluminum backing plates and tapped M 5.0 x 0.9 thread machine screws, plus one additional self tapping screw with a collar.

Used double sided tape to hold the aluminum in place.
The plastic is held in place with several plastic fittings and I was unable to find the last one but had enough room to perform the task. Be careful if you’re prying and drilling because there is a small section of wire loom running up/down the pillar

I carry a E100 next to first aid kit in the front near me when I driving, and in the back I have 5lb Halotron right next to a Leatherman Raptor Rescue Emergency Sheers, with Glass break and Stap cutter.

I have the same Leatherman, I put it in a pouch on the driver side door. I was worried that if I'm stuck with a smashed in door that I can't reach under the seat but I can get to the door pocket to cut myself out of the seatbelt and break glass to get out. I put the fire extinguisher in front of the passenger seat for the same reason. I'm considering adding one in front of the drivers seat as extra protection

I have had to use my fire extinguisher in another car and having it universally accessible from both front seats proved really useful.

A very comprehensive setup (but that rescue tool at least looks ready to take flight in the event of a crash).

If you have a FireStryker extinguisher, I mounted mine to the cargo barrier using Quick Fist brackets. Instructions and images here.
As a variation on your theme, I mounted my FireStryker by replacing the bolts on the cargo barrier's plastic panels with slightly longer ones. 🙂

Thanks for the ideas guys. I just got a halotron and I'm trying to decide where to keep it. I was going to put it in front of the passenger seat but I might put an Element there instead and mount the extinguisher like Gregory did. I also like Treehorn's idea, I'm just a little concerned if it will stay in place if there is a frontal impact.

I agree about the question of extinguisher retention. Similar units mounted on the forward facing bulkhead in the cockpit of the Boeing 777 utilize two straps for this consideration.

Another factor in the choice of a fire extinguisher is its ability to deliver agent directly to a fire in the engine compartment. I have been told that, in this instance, it is best to only ‘crack open’ the hood (so as not to introduce more air to the combination process) just far enough to insert the nozzle of a fire extinguisher hose prior to ‘pulling the trigger’.
