Has anyone thought about the same thing? How can you disable those electronic gadgets that the EU wants, which are nothing but a nuisance, i.e. AEB, start/stop system, tyre pressure warnings, ECS, PDC, Line control ... they should be removed so that the indicator lights don't come on and the OBD reader doesn't report errors. Or should I forget about the whole purchase and realize that no one has yet made a 90's Land-Rover One Ten winner?

Buy a 2023 model without any of it on, mine is great and the reason I wanted an early one

MY23 will still have start/stop, tyre pressure warnings, ECS, PDC (assuming soft pack), etc...

@Myllis if you want a '90s era 110, then you'll want a 90's era 110

True, didn't think about those ones.
I do find stop start annoying.
I was trying to avoid the constant nannying on speed and lane assistance, which just feels dangerous to me when I've had it in a hire car. Also the auto brake, on left turn lane car keeps braking as cars to the right aren't moving.

There is a counter argument that the governments have a responsibility to keep people safe.

These measures and others have arguably kept Europe the place that you are least likely to die on the roads.

Road deaths per 100,000 of the population in many EU countries is around 2 or 3. Canada and Australia about 4. USA is about 12. Many third world countries are in the 30's.

If you want a '90s LR110, then buy one! The inital cost to buy should be substantially less and there are no issues with manuals or spare parts, (although with LR classic Defenders it is all too easy to buy crap parts that fail within months).

I've sold my LRs and I don't miss them; in comparison with the Grenadier they are slow, uncomfortable, leaky, unreliable, (although fixing is usally easy), cold and a bit of an emissions nightmare.

There are also others....Toyota Land Cruiser, Mitsubishi Pajeros or Nissan Patrol, all capable and robust. When I saw a Patrol gearbox you could have the impression it is from an earth moving machine...

What is taught in driving schools these days? Blow your hair? It is precisely those inventions of EU officials that are partly leading to the fact that people want autonomous cars, because they no longer know how to drive and instead assume that wonderful electronics and artificial intelligence will take care of everything. You no longer have to look ahead because the car looks and brakes, you don't have to look to the side or back when the car looks, you don't have to stay in your lane when there is a lane monitor, you don't have to know anything about traffic signs because artificial intelligence knows and the adaptive cruise even takes care of the speed. Everything works great as long as everything works, hackers are not in your system and the sun is shining. Unfortunately, not all days are sunny, hackers are reality and electronic gremlins are everyday pain of ass.

Depending mainly on body control unit many electronic features may have settings that for new car are defined by the manufacturer to comply local destiny regulations. It may be possible to change these later and modify or even deactivate some features.

Does somebody have any knowledge on the diagnostic equipment of Ineos?

I must be late to the party on this one. Are the auto brake and lane assist a EU/UK thing? If not, I’ve never triggered the auto brake and the lane assist in the US is a chime (that I’ve turned down the volume on).

I think I need to dig into my manual again 😂😂

I've got neither on my 23MY UK version.

Setting aside the "if it saves one life then it's worth it" argument. The lights, bongs and constant interruptions/distractions are more dangerous that what they are trying to inform the driver of.

Of all of them on my Greny the only one that I would want is the braking (AEB) BUT I don't want a fucking light on the dash when its disabled such as in off-road mode.

I don't want a click when I speed because if you don't speed in LA then you will get run over. And when I forget to turn it off I'm forced to do so while speeding and navigating traffic in a city full of unlicensed and uninsurred drivers. I swear I'm going to get into an accident disabiling that warning.

I don't want a click when I wander out of my lane because it's a solid front axle truck with recirulating ball steering so of course it's going to wander. What sort of sick joke is that warning on this truck like this. I keep envisioning the engineer having a beer after work and laughing their asses off. Let's build a car that won't stay in it's lane and then have it click at the driver when it wanders over the line and if he tries to turn the warning off then let's put a light on the dash just to annoy him.

I hate the damn "stability control" that always wants to send me off the road on a downhill decreasing radius turn. That "feature" almost killed me yesterday when it tried to straighen the car out coming down a mountain road at 60 mph.

I don't need to loud bong going off at half a tank telling me it's time to refill. I can read the gauge myself.

I don't need a damn "tire overpressure" warning because they didn't give enough leeway for thermal expantion.

I don't need something flashing at me saying the "speed assist isn't available" because it hasn't seen a speed limit sign in 10 minutes. I can read a fucking sign myself because I have eyes.

Nor do I need a warning that the "forward camera has gone blind" every time I park in my garage.

And lastly, I don't need to be told that "diff lock isn't available" when a check engine light is on because the fuel tank was overfilled. One has nothing to do with the other and I swear I'm going to hard wire the diff locks to override switches so I can get out of trouble when the computer tries to think for me.

The underlying issue is that goverments want to think for us and save us from ourselves. This creates dependent weak people and that is bad for mankind. We are going to end up like a bunch of French Bulldogs who can only survive if someone else takes care of them.

Auto brake and lane assistant are not ( yet) mandatory in the EU nor UK. That said the majority of cars for sale have them ( particularly lane assist) fitted or are an optional extra. It will only be a matter of time before there is a EU mandatory requirement.

I'm sure it is now in Europe & UK. Again, why i wanted an early car.
I'm sure I read in the Ineos configurator that it is now fitted to the latest vehicles on the UK site.

I wouldn't disagree. Again, slightly playing devil's advocate...

My wife isn't the greatest of drivers, in the past she has driven home on a completely flat tyre, hit about half a dozen cars from behind etc. Since cars have had these safety features none of these things have happened.

I think you have had the wrong strategy in the past, rather than replacing the wife's car 🚗, did you consider replacing the wife. 😉

I have a UK MY24 and its not lane assist. Its land departure warning. AEB does exist but its less sensitive than other vehicles I have driven. On a road near me, there is a layby on a bend, which is 60mph and several other cars pick up when a car is in the layby. The IG doesn't. Also, there appears to be no AEB on reversing.

This!
But if you complaining about it, you’ll be told to just sell your grenadier
