Good question and never actually thought about it. Some states now are requiring that pets be secured either in crates or buckled. Personally I just have the rear seat hammock and the dogs are able to move about. Typically they are just lying down.

We had three for many years - decided to drop to two when the old one passed away. Soon after a breeder we knew well passed away.... so we took in a breed bitch that needed a home.
