Tks Tinki.

Opie Oils has20pct off today so I've got 3x 5L of Valvoline 0w-30 for £112 delivered.

Might have to buy a single litre somewhere for the 2nd change if it takes more than your 7.1l but should be good.
my man hold that thought while i stock up on oil !! :) thank you for the heads up . much appreciated !!

I had a jeep eco diesel, it had strict requirements initially. Now a LR Discovery TD6 that had stringent requirements. Sooner or later you’ll wind up at Rotella T6. People will say a manufacturer knows what’s best but the reality is they’re stretching things making you run on thinner oils for better mpg. Eventually the Ecodiesel even recommended shell Rotella. I run it in everything from my Yamaha SHO 225hp outboard to my Discovery. The Disco loves it and runs so much better. I’ll be running the T6 in my gasser grenadier or the Pen Platinum Euro L. But for diesel Rotella T6 is the bees knees. Behind that should be the ford FA4 Spec.

Changed the oil and filter this arvo. And cut the grass!

odo at 1825 miles. Stuck in 7.150litres of Valvoline bmw spec 0w-30. May well change spec after warranty period and go down the 0w-40 but until then will stick with what's stated.

On road oil check said '0k', off road wanted 500ml more. Exactly what it said before I changed it.

You'll need as said before a 32mm socket, universal joint, 17mm socket and a cup of tea.

Don't to torque it up to 25 Nm. Also got the same "oil check" as you on road OK but off road needs 500ml more ?????

In the absence of any instructions.. what's not to be torqued to 25Nm please?.
My standard oil check procedure indicates it needs 1L for on road and off road!
Does the "kit" include a crush washer for the sump plug?...
Torque for filter and sump plug?
Also contemplating what brand/spec oil to use.... There is a question on the Penrite website from "Paul" who owns a Grenadier asking for their advice. they posted a reply advising him to email their technical dept! 🙄

@DenisM - I think CountyV8 meant 'don't forget to...' rather than 'don't'. Correct my assumption if wrong?

I torqued both oil filter cap and sump plug to 25nm. The filter cap hit 25nm as soon as it stopped turning if that makes sense? And felt right. The sump plug seemed too tight at 25nm to me and I will hand tighten next time or step down to 22nm.

Nice work. And as for used filter contents? Many specs?

Actually I had another look through the splines and if tilting in the sun you can clearly see specs. Only two I noticed being 'large'.

Will put filter somewhere incase need evidence later on.

Question now is whether to stick another 500ml in as it spends most of it's life there.

If you want to check a filter well, cut apx 10x10cm or 6 to 8 out of the pleats/splines. Squeeze the cut out pleats together in vice to remove oil then straighten out the filter media looking for debris. There is always a very small amount of debris. Debris should only be on one side of the filter media. Large pieces and lots of metal are of concern.

Same as mine on the first oil change . Minimal small pieces on the first filter change. Nothing on the second one .
I did cut the whole thing open .
To be expected on a brand new engine .
