So disgustingly clinical. I hate his logic.
Eratosthenes must have done some wild stuff in his day, because he’s had to watch the same damn argument play out for millennia, even though he came up with a perfectly good proof - without rockets, astronauts or photographs, so that’s a lot of money and time saved. Having to watch that - that is one rough purgatory.

I was initially like wait a second how has he hacked into my security cameras!!🤪🤣

Only one thing, well two if I’m being totally honest, that I love more than my Grenny’s: my guns and family/friends, but PLEASE don’t ask me to put them in any order!!🤦‍♂️

So logically drive your ICE cars , and help warm the planet!
Home solar power+ battery+ fast charger. Simples!
I can't afford home solar, let alone batteries.
I checked costs and payback for the solar was 8 years and with battery was 14 years.
Unfortunately life for the solar system was 5-8 years.
Battery 8-10 years with degradation by 40% after 5 years.
Vehicle battery life was pretty similar.
I was talking with an auto car sales manager last Saturday and he advised company policy was no trade in for EV's more than 2 years old.

You spent your money on a huge new garage.
I have no garage ;)

That was where I was planning on putting the solar panels, with the added return that they would provide insulation for the hot QLD sun and sound deadening from rain storms.
Still couldn't make the sums work.
I'm surprised you were told vehicle battery life is only 40% at 8-10 years.
These sorts of figures are bandied about by anti EV types.
We did our research, and the figures for energy/vehicle costs in retirement (remembering energy and vehicle costs will go up over time) added up in our favour.
Then again , we don't us home aircon in summer and we don't have to drive 3 hours to get away from the masses!

EV battery life is extremely variable and can be anywhere between 40-80% after 8-10 years depending on, brand, use and charging cycles.
Fast charging can really kill some EV's but not so much on others.
Your use case may work out as you planned and mine would have also using the Solar sales reps figures.
I quickly discovered most solar sales reps are not qualified, often poorly educated and work solely on commission.
Unfortunately for me when using my own research and calculations it just doesn't add up at the moment.
I have been working with battery systems, power quality, power conversion and alternative energy for 40 years and have found most information is misleading or downright lies.
Solar panels last 20+ years but the inverter doesn't and most people fail to factor in replacing the inverter every 5-7 years (worst case)
Also some inverters have such terrible power quality output that they can cause damage or stress on things such as fridges and freezers, or washing machines.

Even taking into account current Government solar rebates and grants it was going to cost me $8,500 for solar and $14,000 for battery and solar.
That was best case.
Some clown wanted to put a 3KW system up that was a complete waste of time.

We rarely run aircon, only overnight if the temp stays above 30 overnight.
Mostly we leave all the windows open and run ceiling fans.
We get the see breeze and like to hear the water and the creatures of the night.

Everybody has their own scenario which justifies their position.
We went with an industrial solar supplier with very high standards/reputation. It was now or never , given the rebates are being phased out.
At the end of the day we are aiming to get as much offgrid as possible to soften our golden years.
Costs of living are not decreasing, and the world is becoming very unstable.
