I was googling “Egyptian monuments” and these bad boys popped up. Can’t make this stuff up!! I won’t lie, they are very hard not to look at (the statues are nice too)!!😳🙃😎

I don’t understand, what “Egyptian monuments”/status are you talking about? 🤤🤪

My son loves taking classes on Egyptian history…that’s him studying in class. I’m so proud of him.

You've got enough cash and nobody looking over your shoulder/bank account.
You should try Onlyfans ;) I'm told it's a good way to make talentless ladies wealthy.
Who says I haven’t already made a few young ladies wealthy in totally legal “business transactions”??!! 🙃😉😎

I've only been to 20 countries , Russia included, but the only place I've ever felt unsafe (as did my wife) was the USA.

Yea I have only been on this forum for a few months and if you can believe it, this is the ONLY online place I post on (very private person). I read other forums and online sites, but this is my sole posting site.

Just saw this convo and wanted to comment. This would be great for the waffle thread btw!! DualGG, I’m really glad you post here — you speak your mind, are unapologetic — but respectful of others and their differences.

Tazzie — do you mind sharing what made you feel unsafe? Was it like big city issues or did you run into criminals? Whatever it was, I have to think you missed the best parts of the US. For me, the most beautiful state in the US is Colorado — drive into the Rockies and be ready for your mind to be blown. Breathtaking no matter where you go! Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, parts of California — all worth it.

As far as guns, I have some. I keep one in my bedside table. Not that I need to explain myself but this is why — I’m a small female, I’m 5’4” and about 110 pounds. If one man or 3 men break into my house in the middle of the night — how would I over power them before police arrived? If they wanted me dead, I’m dead. If it’s a rapist, it’s utter terror. If I have a gun and they don’t, I have a chance to make them lay on the ground until cops arrive. If I have a gun and they also have a gun, I have a chance to defend myself and live.

I live in a big city that has trafficking routes for drugs, people, and other things. Those are criminals of the worst kind and that also attracts other criminals to this area bc Phoenix shares a border with Mexico and criminals do way better here than in Mexico. Border state issues are real, we don’t make them up for political purposes.

If guns were outlawed here, all the criminals would be loaded with weapons — and all of their victims would be mostly defenseless. I don’t want to be defenseless, don’t want a criminal pointing a gun at me, and if you break in and try to hurt my dogs — I *will* hurt you first. NO ONE hurts my dogs.

You don’t have to explain yourself to me, I get it more than you know!! Glad you’re not a sheep! I’ve seen the worst parts of the world/human beings and if you’re not willing or able to protect yourself or your family then I pray you/they never face that type of evil. I also appreciate your insights/posts on the forum. You are one hell of a woman and speak your mind!! I also think you know when I post funny memes about women and their appendages or whatever like above, I do it in fun as a joke! 🙌

Btw I keep forgetting about the dang waffle thread. Gonna have to keep a reminder of some sorts on my end. 👍

When you live in a place where nobody carries guns and schoolrooms are unlocked and where in the cities you look people in the eye as you walk past it is a contrast to other places where you are on your guard.
I've no doubt the best parts of the USA are rural and remote, but as yet I am yet to visit. It's a long way from home.
The tyranny of distance is the reason we hardly see US visitors in my state, except for a certain stereotype on cruise ships 🙃
The long white socks and sandals always make me chuckle 😄

I agree with this: in my country very few people have guns: none of my 4 brothers, none of my 3 kids, probably none of my neighbours, but of course some criminals. Even most of the burglars don't cary guns. Higher restrictions and the lesser guns, makes safety higher. But of course, there is black market for 🔫 and every year people get killed by guns

Devonport is where the ferry from the mainland docks. Say n' more.

We are lucky in Australia that we are so isolated and don't have any shared borders.
We also have extremely tight control on people entering the country illegally.
Only way to do it is to overstay their Visa, which of course means they had to qualify for a visa in the first place.

It also has a huge impact on the police attitude.
As there is a 99% chance that a citizen will not have a gun (knives are also fairly controlled but...) the police tend to be friendly, happy and relaxed.
That means we tend to respond in a very friendly and relaxed way to them.

Some stupid criminals smuggle in guns but then realise they can't buy ammunition without a full picture ID, firearms license to suit that ammunition and membership of a suitable gun club.

Then they also have nowhere to practice so couldn't hit the side of a barn if they were standing inside it.

That would be more danger to the person holding it than the person in front of it.

So I guess it is very easy to point at the US and say "fix the gun problem" but in reality they have a completely different set of circumstances, geography and history to most other first world countries.

Plus I actually love the engineering, precision and functionality of guns.

Most people in Australia have never fired a gun, seen a gun, touched a gun or even seen ammunition.

I did not know there was such a thing as the waffle thread.

If I lived in the USA I would probably own 20 firearms.

I nominate Jean Mercier to moderate the waffle thread
As for your gunlove, you'd need a bigger shed.

:)
I may... or may not.....have had an air pistol range under my last house.
It would have been easy to blame the noise on a nail gun being used during renovations.........if I did in fact have one.

Lynyrd Skynyrd influenced me as a young pup!
"Saturday Night Special"

"Hand guns are made for killin'
They ain't no good for nothin' else
And if you like to drink your whiskey
You might even shoot yourself

So why don't we dump 'em, people
To the bottom of the sea
Before some old fool come around here
Wanna shoot either you or me?"

I was also a Ted Nugent fan in the age of disco. Also partial to a little amateur bow hunting.
But I waffle...
