Slots, slits, fingers, key shafts, holes, dark. Difficult not to snigger at some point. 😆

Seem to recall that Suburu had a little light built into their key.
In the 70s?
Porsches and Benzes just had a key.
Maybe the dealer threw in some Jap tech as a sweetener?

Saab used to use a luminous ring around the ignition cylinder of the early 900s for exactly this reason. Of course, anyone who was not familiar with the vehicle couldn’t find the ignition anyway as it was between the two front seats!
