Can't you see the keyhole?

This subject definitely illicit’s the most schoolboy humour by a long way.
Slots, slits, fingers, key shafts, holes, dark. Difficult not to snigger at some point. 😆
Illicit has elbowed Elicit out of the room 😄
You have naughty things on your mind!
I glued a copper crush washer around my keyhole.
See, a copper has entered the room 😉

Seem to recall that Suburu had a little light built into their key.
In the 70s?
Porsches and Benzes just had a key.
Maybe the dealer threw in some Jap tech as a sweetener?

Saab used to use a luminous ring around the ignition cylinder of the early 900s for exactly this reason. Of course, anyone who was not familiar with the vehicle couldn’t find the ignition anyway as it was between the two front seats!

Air-cooled 911s (in the early-to-mid 90s, at least) had a light on the key head.
Mine's a 1978 model and as with my '81 928 has a plain Jane key.
Early 90s Porsches collaborated with Toyota , and maybe that's when things got fancy!

i do the touch the concave area with my finger but i found it surprisingly hard to find the hole and align the key to get in at first try. i fumble for a second or two.
Maybe i'm getting old but i think i would have liked a little light there. Maybe i'll put one on the keychain.

Obviously you’ll all be jealous and copy me, I get it. But this thread inspired me to figure out some sort of ring bc finding the ignition is still not automatic for me.

And my god, who on here doesn’t adore glitter right..?!?

But now I’m going to do Tazzieman’s version bc I love copper and it looks great!

If you have a close look at the tip of my key, I have filed a chamfer on both sides and it just slides in. I have almost an knives edge and can do some damage to that hard to open packaging also. (y)

No need to visually guide your key. Place your forefinger on the tip of the key and use it to index the key in the keyhole.

I for one (and quite likely here not the only one) am not a fan of glitter.
But copper pervades the cabin with an aura of placebo, that via the power of negative ions removes all aches and pains and hides intrusive RHD footwell thoughts.
For a few cents , instant and lasting bliss. Plus, it's tactical.
