Talking nonsense and general waffle

Her extreme fear is horrendous. The smallest dot in the bathroom means she won't go in there until I've removed it. If i ever drop and lose one, I pretend to throw out the window anyway just for a bit of peace.
Her fear seems crippling. There are many people on the Tasmanian Insects and Spiders FB group who have desensitised themselves by looking at spider pics and learning about them.
Mind you it might take a while to be calm around the wolf spiders I have in my garden (they are very furtive and hide in burrows in the ground)

I used to work with a bloke, all you had to do was draw a spider on a piece of paper and he would run out of the room.

I was too late getting a property in the Highlands, the taxes I would have to pay to purchase a 2nd property are just ridiculous, thankfully I got the one in Cornwall when it was just the standard stamp duty. Ideally I wanted one at each end of the UK. Nothing better than the open spaces in the Highlands but Cornwall is warm for my joints and doesn't have the midges
I got hit when I bought my home here, as I still owned a house in Hertfordshire. Fortunately we received a full refund when we sold the Herts house (memory says it had to be within 6 months).

I think i will have to wait until we both retire, wife works for NHS and is tied to the pension, I want to retire at 55. I can work from anywhere on main land UK.
We are concerned about the health care situation in Scotland as I have an expensive medication that I had to be approved for. House we have in Cornwall is next to the doctors surgery but since buying they are now moving it🙁.
There are so many things to think about when making a big move.
Is it if it's your main residence you get the additional tax back as in England and Wales or is it if you own more than 1 you are stuffed either way in Scotland. I have looked into it but the regs keep changing.
We did even discuss leaving UK but I can’t see that ever happening.

The tax was purely for owning two homes. So once the one in England sold, we only had one. So my solicitor arranged a refund.

I can’t speak for the health services on the mainland, but here on Islay they are pretty good. No long waits to get through on the phone, urgent appointments usually the same day. Non urgent usually just a few days. We have a small hospital, anything beyond them but urgent, the patient is flown to Glasgow. Routine hospital visits to Glasgow - they provide a plane ticket. There’s a team of specialist nurses, and others visit regularly. So we are pretty well looked after :) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I wanted to retire at 55. Failed. Made my escape at 60 👍

Maybe an island life is the best way to go!?

Anyone know what's happened to Dual Grenny Guy. All his posts say deleted member
I thought he had gone quiet after Christmas as he was on a lot beforehand and was a lifetime supporter if i remember rightly.
He had 2 of them and was planning to get a QM, but he did also seem to have a lot of other vehicles, and guns. Maybe just moved on to his next obsession. Just a shame to lose an active member.

Loquacious is the word you were looking for ;<)
I had to look that up😠 i thought you Aussies weren't supposed to be educated, especially the more remote you were. I'm English and therefore superior 🤣
Brings to mind the old b&w class sketch with Ronnie Corbet, Ronnie Barker & john Cleese

I was born in Oxford and received education to grade 3 at Botley County Primary school.
Walked to school rather than being driven in the Morris Traveller woody wagon.
My father, with a proper PhD from Oxford , decided far off Tasmania had better and more exciting prospects.
No regrets from him - or me!
But I love it each time I return to the UK.

My superior English stands then if you are from & educated here. Just a shame they forgot to educate me🤣 I dropped out due to ill health, I'm still pretty useless😂
Dad had a Traveller before I was born.
You definitely did the right thing escaping 👍 we discuss it, but with no seriousness, i use the NHS a lot, hoping to retire at 55 but wife is NHS nurse and tied to final salary pension and currently is thinking of staying on till 60.
We have a retirement property in Cornwall, currently residentialy rented, couple of hundred yards to beach. Most important it has garage and parking for 3 cars. Plan to extend when we sell here and make sure it's suitable for a cripple as I get older, or on bad days 🤣

I'm still working in my 63rd year , as is my wife.
It costs a lot to travel back to the motherland!
I have a cousin in St Ives; we love Cornwall. Did the self guided coastal trek a couple of years ago.

Love Cornwall & Scotland. Problem with Scotland is the midges, NHS waiting times and massive tax on buying a property and then more if you own others. My ideal would have been to have one in Scotland for part of the year and another in Cornwall. Nice remote place in Scotland away from all the crowds would be bliss.
My mums cousin is in Canada and it costs them a fair bit to get over here. My parents did go for a holiday there but only the once.
I can't see my industry still going when I'm 63, government will have shut it down so we can import from elsewhere so as to save the planet

DGG had a few shouty exchanges with Island Falconer in mid December. They're not great reading. I hope that's not why he's gone. He seemed to be enjoying himself on here.

Birdman seems to be absent also
I'm sure I read a couple of posts from him the other day🤔

There were a few heated debates from 2 obviously strong characters with totally different experiences. I always hope I don't upset people with my attempts at humour, being as it's the sarcastic self deprecating type, but it's easy to get misunderstood when not in person and not everyone has done the correct thing yet and started to only speak English🤣 For clarification, that's me taking the pee out of us English because we can't be bothered to learn a foreign language and expect everyone else to understand us, as it should be😁
I try to use emojis to express these things but as I'm old I might get them mixed up🤡 Thankfully I figured out how to do them on my computer which tells me what each face is whereas my phone doesn't and it's so small I might pick the wrong one anyway🍆
Anyway, shame he's gone if he was a lifetime supporter, and I know, I need to do something to in way of support for the site, just running a bit tight for the next few months whilst selling a property

How did Tazz get a founding guard banner
And Stu & Kraabby, did they set all this up or was it just Stu?

Stu is the founder of this enterprise and I came along later - too late to be a founding guard. Interestingly enough, Stu's member number is 8, not 1, and he has no real explanation of why 🤣 .
