We are mostly wary of cheap Chinese products, but you have to acknowledge their ingenuity to produce this for under $20k.

It looks less like the grenadier than the grenadier looks like the old defender. If these Chinese copies were basic electronics free vehicles they would be pretty good for overlanders. But to sell them in the west they will need all the same emissions crap as everything else and so will not be a good buy.

Strange as it may seem, China's emission standards for new cars are at least as stringent as the west.(China 6b is more restrictive than Euro 7 for example)

The more I read about it, the less it is like a Grenadier or even a Bronco... Its more like a Suzuki Jimmy...

I’ll buck the trend then, I like it, but then again I like the Mahnidras and the other o;d eastern block 4x4’s as well. That colour looks great (feel like I have seen that colour scheme somewhere else though)

This intellectual property butthurtness I don’t understand. Copied. Borrowed. Stole. Derived. Whatever. Grenadiers themselves are unoriginal copies in so many ways. That is literally why I ordered one!

The reality is a boxy 4x4 makes sense and looks good at every point of the spectrum of quality + materials. So if an overseas factory can make a half-okay version at ¼ the price for their markets … good on them.

Everybody copied everything in the world, and improved it, that is progress!

Who flew for the first time an airplane? There are three countries claiming this ! 😱

Where was gunpowder invented around the 9th century?

I copied several things posted on this forum, and sometimes improved it IMHO (abbreviation ;))

You would wonder why Nissan wasn't taken to task over the G60...Maybe money changed hands...Mine was a G60 1969 and the Defender is my daughter's from the last batch 2016?
