The old and the new!

P.S Anyone with contacts in the USA , the 1989 Ex MoD 110 V8 LHD is eligible for export and therefore sale.
Due to be landed in Oakland sometime next year.

Yes. We own four Land Rovers and a Ford F250 farm truck. Have the IG is on order. Interestingly, we drove our 01 Disco on a wet sloppy course with a host of new Defenders and our old girl performed well. One of the new Defenser 110’s got stuck on relatively easy terrain (likely driver created) and another had an elecronic transmission issue. The old truck made me proud and confirms that newer is not better.

Our old Defender is a 1993 D90

I still have the old girl series II 1958 but just of late, she hasn't moved out of the carport that much except for a shot with her younger sister... I can get away with saying that because they both originated in the motherland...happy motoring (y)

How many of you have ever owned a Land Rover product? It can be a 1948 Series I, a 2023 Range Rover Evoque, or anything inbetween. Please answer yes or no and, if you would like to share which models you have owned, please share in the comments.
I've never had the opportunity to own a Land Rover product but I had the pleasure of testing a few during my days at PistonHeads Towers. Range Rover SVR (loud, obnoxious but made me smile every time I had the privilege of driving it), Land Rover Defender Heritage Edition in that glorious Grasmere Green paint. And I can't forget having a mate back in Malta letting me drive their SWB V8 90 and an ex's dad letting me pootle around his boat factory in the rusted but still running Series 2A. These were all short lived events but memorable.

1994 Defender 90 - hardtop. It was a great eye-catcher classic green with white roof BUT it leaked (rain) from the start (also gave us some fits when starting in rainy weather), required a new transmission within the first year, repainted 4 times due to poor isolation between Aluminum & Steel, quite noisy with M&S tires and did not feel stable at higher speeds and the A/C never worked well. My wife drove it every day to her job at a high school and always got a lot of attention from the boys. Despite the issues, it was a workhorse and we just learned to live with the idiosyncratic nature of the vehicle. Had it for 7 years and did not lose a penny on the value - trade value was equal to what we paid for it.

I don't own either of these any longer.
My '97 Disco was basically a D90 with a different body. Performed quite well:

My '06 RR Sport was a step up in comfort and was a decent offroader as well:

I've never owned a Land Rover. I always wanted one, but was never in a position (financially) before to be able to purchase what I wanted. Initially, I fell in love with the Range Rover Classics from late 80's - mid 90's, because my Mom's boss at the time (CFO for a large CPG company in the US) had one, and aside from it being a status symbol for an accomplished professional, I was in love with the shape/profile/body lines, and the fact that it was a proper adventure 4x4 vehicle. Also, it didn't exactly quell the fire inside of me when my Mom's boss gave me a VHS tape (which presumably must have come with his RRC on delivery) of the Camel Trophy events, and I was hooked on the LR brand and wanted either an RRC or classic Defender, as a result. Also, we had 2 dealerships in close proximity to where I grew up, and I was always intrigued by the fact that their dealerships had a distinct adventure/safari design vibe - it wasn't exactly the Ford dealership that I was accustomed to as a child.

Whenever the LR3 came to market in the US, I desperately wanted the G4 Challenge model (the orange one with the roof rack + 4 off-road lights and the bull bar with the integrated winch). I even had one of the promo images as the background on my Windows 2000/XP desktops at the time :ROFLMAO: - but, I was too young, and no where near lucky enough to afford one.

Fast forward to today...I've gone through 4-year college, grad school, and worked super hard over the past 15 years to get to where I'm now fortunate enough to be in a position to own Land Rover - even if it's not a Land Rover, but the spiritual successor to a LR Defender. Looking forward to delivery of my Grenadier, soon!

Hmmmm '92 Range Rover Classic, 96 NAS D90 softtop, 96 Range Rover P38, Disco 1, Disco 2. The D90 was the keeper: just passed it on to a friend. Wish I had kept the Classic Rangie!
Now that you've written this, I'm having second thoughts about whether I should really sell my 86 Range Rover. Not that I'll be annoyed afterwards.

Is it a Classic or a P38. If it is a Classic and in good condition, keep it. There will never be another vehicle like it! And they are appreciating!
