We drove to RAF Davidstow Airfield today. Very interesting history. Airfield during the war and car racing track after the war, there have also been 3 Formula 1 races. However, already 70 years ago.
No error messages and no water ingress the last few days. But a few more scratches due to the high hedges next to the single track roads.

Got today the side steps and the original crossbars (now in the car😉) , next weekend change the RTT to the original bars.
The Thule bars will be the base for DIY platform.

Today I painted my "alpine tie down bars" with black upol raptor. Seeing as this was the only silver trim on the car I thought it would suit being black (especially on a mushroom with black wheels)

Happy with the results!

Ps. No I haven't installed miniature Starlink onto my roof...

Today I visited Direct 4X4 in Derby who are beginning to make accessories for the Grenadier. I spoke to Mark who was pleased to see his first IG in the flesh - they have had one there previously but Mark wasn't around.

We discussed various options for accessories including side steps, runners, tables, rear drawer systems and roof racks.

I offered to bring mine back for any measurements they need to make. It's very close to my home so will await their offerings.

I then drove up to the Dales in Derbyshire to do some high-elevation radio communications for fun:

Nothing terribly exotic here on the Leicestershire/Lincolnshire border.
My Grenadier went in for a Service Update on the steering, no idea what they did, adding the tow bar and a hard stare at the external door seals. They have decided to order 3 new seals and replace the existing ones, as they are too distorted to just glue back on.

The tow ball looks too high for my usual trailers, so I will have to experiment.
Question about the tow bar? did you ordered standard out of the factory or did they mount it afterward locally at the dealer? Mine hasn’t got a tow bar but need to be installed locally afterward, but Ineos state that could be a problem because the wiring is not in place and that there could be a software problem (trailer control etc,…) Curious to know your experience

Since the bars are aluminum, another alternative is to have the bars anodized black. DaBull
Yes. I cannot see how any painted finish on those bars would hold up after a few km of corrugations with a load tied to them.

Delivery of my Grenadier is closing in fast
I am looking forward to contributing to this page but not with posts of long overlanding trips across deserts and into the never never.
My Grenny (The Beast) will be a daily driver
No idea what awaits me in Walliebum, Golden Fleece or Eureka, but I plan to find out.
From my home in Toogoom I have to drive past the first turnoff to the Childers Pistol Club as it is a very rough gravel road.
This adds time and distance to getting there but with the The Beast I will take the first turn just for fun.
This is sugar cane and farming country, so lots of rain and flooded roads.
It is also only a 35 minute drive to catch the Ferry over to Fraser Island, so heading over for the day or weekend can be a last minute decision.
Probably join a local 4WD club if there are any interesting ones around.
At the moment my vehicle is the limiting factor of where we can go.
Once The Beast arrives, and has the bugs ironed out, there should be few, or no limits.

My Gren has now been my daily drive for the last week and now going on two weeks and 800klms since delivery and still want to drive at the drop of a hat...it's exactly and way more than what I had expected...the braking is soft and calm...the steering is brilliant once you have been behind the wheel for a while...what footrest...driving position is up to you but I have chosen an upright, up high position where I can see the front corners of her...in this position, I don't use the footrest but that might change over longer distant touring...the turning circle for me is not an issue but it will take a little while to conquer the tight maneuvers...seeing the corners certainly helps...before starting I turn the key to see all the icons appear on the small screen and when most disappear I turn on to start...it does seem and has been spoken about the procedure, stop the unwanted warnings from appearing...the buttons I push after starting are the air recirculation, start/stop, park assist...park assist is a pain because I like to just miss thing and not be told when I am not even close but that is me...don't forget off road mode which does the same...yes, I have had warnings but just say go away and they do...here in Australia we have had different side indicators because of our standards...the one on the raised air intake tube fell off and was dangling after some dirt road travel...they are being replaced again I am told but in the meantime, two drops of sikaflex does the trick...I have no complaints except it is a high vehicle and my steps like most haven't arrived...the main reason is getting in and out obviously but the other is rubbing the stitching in these wonderful Recaro seats...so from the Skin Thing here on the Sunshine coast you can purchase sheep skin throw overs that has stopped that being an issue...sheep skin breaths so warm in winter and cool in summer...the seats are next level and hold you when need be...I have turned the tyres so the lettering is black and then the inflation warning appeared...it was a matter of going to settings and scrolling to tyre pressure and reset...using the settings and scrolling is the best way for me to learn...there is even a trip meter in there which I was happy to find...the radio and nav do there thing...brilliant is the word that comes to mind when asked how it is...it is lunchtime and then a drive to somewhere after that...I can't wait for you to have your cars and your Beast Dave...happy days
Thanks for my updated detail Stu.

Hi
I also prefer the high and close seating position on the three drives I have done.
You aren't that far away so we may have to meet up for a coffee sometime after I get mine.
Dave

Great to hear Max. Next you're in Brisbane I'd be happy to buy you a coffee and you can show me how much you like her.

And I agree, always best to position yourself where you can see her front corners. ;)

We looked at buying a place at Boreen Point.
Lovely spot.

One in Rainforest Court and another up near the boat ramp, one street back.
Nice. Our place is on the lakefront near the boatramp. We could have been neighbours
