One thing I have noticed/mentioned before that does impact the footrest issue is types of shoes people are wearing.
On the left you can see shoes with a huge thick heel around 30mm and probably has a drop of 18mm from heel to toe which bends the ankle and the footrest just makes it worse.
On the right the heel is probably only 15mm and drops to 10mm at the front.
You can clearly see less bend in the ankle and the person says it isn't a problem (with caveat of not driving)
My shoes have 5mm thick sole and flat front to back and I had no problem.

I like to drive in work boots or bushwalking boots , rather than have to change when I get on location.
Farmers wear gumboots.
Will it be an issue? I guess it depends upon the individual and their adaptability to new experiences.

I change out of my work/safety boots before I get back in the car when possible as I am often on waste water treatment plants and who knows what may be on the boots.
Short drives are no problem but if you are going to do 3+ hours maybe it is worth considering different footwear

That is one reason I have specced no carpets!
Tell a cattle farmer in green pastureland to take his Wellington boots off and he'll tell you something off!
And you never know what's festering in a Tassie boghole. Scrape the worst of the mud off and head back home!

You’re right there mate, but you could almost guarantee it’ll have two heads like most other things out of Tassie 😉🤪🤪
Interestingly I've seen more snaggle-toothed inbred types on the main island.
Perhaps you have seen them visiting Tasmania making their You Tube videos of 4x4s in bogholes?
:D

Oh, we have our share up here as well mate, don’t worry about that.
Just not as consistent mind you. 😉
