I understand that vehicles which have been built are subject to “rework” which could explain your point.
in usual volume production, vehicles that fail QC would be subjected to rework. If it is a chip issue, it must be a plan n play one.

I do know that VIN numbers are available for these early customer vehicles from Ineos.

Decided to check AXA insurance over here in Switzerland and it seems that the IG is now selectable for coverage which is a good sign :)

How long to wait I wonder… I was told a possible December or January when I signed. But I fear it will miss Santa‘s round :(

We've seen one PTO3 (well various bits of it) in London. There must be more, and if there are they are being kept well hidden. Maybe press have already driven them and just sitting on their copy until any embargo has been lifted?
So scuttlebutt from FB:

Be sure, they are all handpicked.

Of course the big ones, in Germany: Auto, Motor und Sport | Auto Bild | maybe ADAC (20 million readers) and some other players like that. And some special magazines from the offroad and travel sector. Some hunting and forest guys, maybe.

Although I have a press pass, I didn't even hear of such an event. It basically all happens within the club of car-augurs. And even within the redactions the editors will beat and stab each other for the job.

If there is no NDA up to a date on which all participants have agreed, I am sure that everybody will try to be the first one.

Auto Bild comes every week, Auto Motor Sport every two weeks and ADAC every month ... and so on. So I suspect they will try to agree on a date which is attractive for all of them.

There are of course other big magazines than only German ones, but you get the idea.

So as well as tracking deliveries via shipping trackers, we now need to track Sir Jim's fleet of planes to see when this is actually going to happen.

Google suggests that he has access to:
Gulfstream G650 (M-OVIE)
Gulfstream G550 (M-USIC)
Gulfstream G280 (M-ISTY)
Gulfstream G280 (M-INTY)
Dassault Falcon 2000EX (M-CHEM)

I wonder if he's been visiting the factory for himself?

Well there's at least one more PTO3 doing the rounds in the UK:

The second photo of an IG I’ve seen on U.K. roads but not on U.K. plates. There are clearly now at least 10 cars registered here - all registered and no doubt PDI’d by BCA (it says on the plates) but none of them have been seen to be driven on the road? This leads me further down the theory that the car is not yet type approved in the U.K, further explaining the delay in dealer demos.

I believe that the Uk still relies on EU type approval as it has yet to set up a separate uk version. I also understand that uk type approval using the EU system will be marked with provisional “p” prefix to the type approval number.

so provided IA has type approval in euro land, we should be cooking of gas in the uk….

I am sure there are some European brothers in this parish who could seek out the type approval certificate for the Gren..?

Brexit has made it a little more complicated with the NI Protocol; but there is still a process to go though to obtain a GB Type Approval, albeit is a bit Monty Pythonesque.

As of @15th September (the last time I checked), there were no records of Ineos holding the relevant type approval to sell vehicles in GB.

No type approval in Germany till September 2022.

Here is the the type approval up to the 30th of September 2022.

here you find the xlsx table.
So type approval, or lack thereof, isn’t the reason. Having worked for a large motor manufacturing business in the 90’s, rework of new or launch models, was a key issue. Was either quality control / fit & finish or software related. It ended up with sheds and old RAF sites getting filled up while a work around or fix was found.

I've certainly heard from people who have visited the factory since the summer of a number of vehicles with blue stickers identifying issues to be resolved.

@Halliwell Jones Chester mentioned the conduit that was visible in the rear door corners, then there's the catch on large rear door that dents the small door if closed in the wrong order, and the fasteners for the panel to get to the emergency kit.

I guess you could call then fit & finish, but requiring a design/drawing change rather than down to poor execution/delivery.

Further to the Stellantis story a few pages earlier, it seems similar issues for Renault.

"Renault dealers have registered some customer cars that are still stuck in ports waiting to be delivered.

In a similar situation to Stellantis – exclusively revealed by Car Dealer last week – some Renault customer cars have been registered with no hand-over dates scheduled.

One Renault customer explained how their Megane E Tech arrived in Portbury at the end of November and has been registered by the dealer.

However, delivery dates for their car in December have continuously slipped with transportation and a shortage of drivers blamed as the cause.

Renault is also claimed to have told customers that delays fitting alarms and other extras are the cause of hold ups – even though ‘many customers haven’t even ordered extras’.c
