The steering pump whine is officially a issue…

Out for breakfast with my daughter today were walking across the parking lot, and I’m like Grenadier. But I didn’t see it yet. I heard it behind me because of the steering whine pump.

my daughter said she heard it before she saw it too.

I easily fixed mine, but the dealers should be taking a closer look into this before selling. Once warmed up and driven the power steering fluid is just at or below MIN. I fill it to MAX and went driving around a few days. At cold I checked the level and topped it back up to MAX and its whisper quiet now. I have also helped another owner do this exact thing and its been resolved. Keep in mind both had under 500 miles when we did this so no permanent damage or anything after the fact.

I'm happy it worked for you, but its not a universal fix.

And the steering pump whine exists in almost every grenadier offroad video i've watched, it's a very widespread problem. My dealer just shrugged at me and said essentially 'deal with it'

Mine doesn't have this issue. I wonder if there was a build date that this stopped becoming an issue or if I just got lucky. Or maybe I'm just hard of hearing!

I get the same BS from my dealership. They are doing a great job of trying to normalize this issue. Likely trying to escape from a recall.
