You now can’t use the Smartpass consumer output

I tried to get a specific response from INEOS on what the actual issue is. Unfortunately they have attempted repeatedly to dodge the question, pretty pissed off with this response to be honest.
This was their first response

So I said, my agent has no information on this can you please ask the technical team.

That was odd because I never said it was a recall. The I got this

Ironically this is the closest to helpful a response as I got. But it really gives no information that can be used to make your own decisions about how to handle this. So I asked for specically what the issues identified were.

That last response is clearly untrue as they clearly have more information but they aren’t going to share it with their customers. That was a f*#$ you response.

Going on that, and without access to the manuals we were originally promised, I’d hate to have problems out in the woop woop even if I could make contact! Would be like the apprentice and the “long weight”. 😫
That is a pathetic response.

And so they aren't "reaching out* to us, nor *unpacking" the issue?
That's not very corporate of them.
Sorry to go off topic momentarily, but in my last boardroom the first person to tick off the standard list of corporate wank-words being used to garnish presentations would quietly pronounce "Bingo!". Wank-Word Bingo kept us alert through many lo-carb sessions. 'Utopia' on ABC does it well.
Now, back on topic.

Going forward, we can take the temperature of the key stakeholders, and see if the communication strategy needs a tweak or if we should convene a working group to think further outside the 9 dots and present their learnings in a session with interested parties?

On my death bed , I will smugly lookback at one of my greatest achievments in my life - avoiding any meeting of this type , ever.

Sadly I can’t say the same. Been in hundreds, probably thousands by now

If there is actually a problem with using the consumer output, I would very much like INEOS to actually tell us what it is. I have been happily using mine to power my fridge as per the instructions that came in the box with the vehicle and there do not appear to be any adverse effects
I think they are doing it because people are, or could, use the consumer output to utilise the second battery but at the same time run equipment off the external outlets. The risk is that you deplete both batteries and end up stuck in the woods! Just my thoughts. Seems like they are trying to say don't use the secondary battery as it is for a backup to start the vehicle

They could have saved a lot of grief by supplying a $200 lithium jump starter as part of the emergency package that includes a jack , warning triangle , various bandages and lotions and a hi vis vest.

This may well be, but it would be nice to know exactly what the issue is and more information on their dual battery system and philosophy so we can make some informed decisions ourselves about whether we want to take those risks and what the risks are. It can also help us make a decision about whether we want to keep the rather odd dual battery system as they have delivered it, or modify it it make it more like a conventional dual battery system.

Great idea Tazzieman, that would have been better then the triangle and warning vest.

I wish i had known this before I started setting my vehicle up using the consumer outlet. Would have saved me some time and energy.

Yes it is annoying, for the moment I have just switched my fridge to direct to the second battery but that may just give the same result as they are worried about, but without more information how could we know 🤷‍♂️. I have also taken steps to foil the agents blanking my consumer output (not blaming them but INEOS isn’t giving them any choice in the matter, it is compulsory for them to do it) I won’t say what I have done because they and INEOS do read the forum.

They blanked mine before I had a chance to foil them,. It wouldn't be hard to unfoil what they've done. Not that I need to.

I already said it several times, and I will continue to repeat it, so that the Ineos "lurkers" can hopefully inform their management:
  1. Customer Support is crap (but it isn't their fault, they are not "technical"), a waste of time for us!
  2. Ineos doesn't treat us - early users (or Guinea Pigs) - as we deserve to be treated
  3. Ineos doesn't keep their promises: giving us access to technical and maintenance information
I tell it to everybody interested in the Grenadier: "fantastic car, but Ineos and my dealer are underperforming concerning any question I ask".

As we in the US are about to get our "'2" vehicles, I wonder what we will encounter. I guess I'mgoing to have to ask Ineos US the simple question "what is the recommended hookup for a fridge?"
Seems a fundamental requirement for an "overland" vehicle to have this sorted as a "plug and play" attribute!
