not getting safari window is diminishing one major unique aspect of the vehicle. THe slopping roofline allows for an opening that is uniquely in the front occupants' field of view, as opposed to sunroof, which you need to look up, to see the sky. As a result, the safari window is very much a part of the driving experience of the Grenadier.

No safari window unchecks a very weighty checkbox in the "pros" column, making the overall value proposition of the vehicle much weaker. I would not buy any Grenadier without Safari window, irrespective of all other options.

You have done the best job of describing it. It is truly a unique thing for this vehicle.

Bought screens on amazon custom sized for grenadier - they just pop in an out using tension. I live in South Florida and the glass transmitted a lot of heat into the cabin in full sun and the screens solved the problem 100%. Easy to put in/out and required no install. Love the windows.

Which one did you get? I got suction cup ones which are a bit annoying to remove. I also wish for them to roll up, for easier storage.

I’m looking at these ones as they use magnets but still kinda pricey for what they are.

The safari windows were a selling point for me. Test driving it in Spring with the windows open gave such on open feel to the cockpit and it wasn't noisy.

Through heavy rain, sleet and snow of the last couple of months, I have not had any leaks. Although over the decades, I have never had a sun roof leak but then I don't tend to hold onto cars long enough for the rubbers to deteriorate that much.

On a trial master the safari windows are an option (added cost) but after 5,000 miles I wouldn't have it any other way. I think those windows add a ton of character like others have mentioned. I also knew I wasn't going to install a rack or roof top tent that would cause issues with being able to use them. I feel like sun coming in is a non issue and have even considered the owl window covers but haven't ordered them yet.

On the down side, I did have a small leak when I had snow on my roof. The water was getting in the saffari windows and then running down the roof towards the windshield. Made it look like the windshield was leaking - dripping from windshield down on the dashboard. Like 2- 3 drops. Not like the headliner was soaked or anything crazy. Took it in for warranty coverage and the dealer figured out it wasn't the windshield and replaced both seals with whatever updated version Ineos is using today. No issues since! Mine is a early 2024 but apparently didn't get the updated seals when it rolled off the line. Even having experienced a leak, I have zero regrets about them and simply love the way they look.

I honestly didn’t know they sold the series 1 Disco in the US!

We have one too, a bit newer (96) with twin leaky sunroofs 🙄

I think it was part of the upgrade that produced the NAS 90 and 110 spec. I bought it in Tunisia (LHD V8 auto) as a part of deal with landrover British Gas had to bring in vehicles for the Hannibal Gas Project.
