I did the same. I placed in this cable protector stuff to hold them all together - worked well

Very good idea. I didn’t do this and managed to impinge the rear camera cable, rendering it inoperable… a long way from replacement parts.

Is the G900 really worth it? My eyesight isn’t the greatest and I’m unsure if I’d be able to tell the difference between the G840S and G900. $100 vs $200. I’m not opposed to paying $200, but only if I practically benefit from it.

I just installed the 900 today, I’m very happy with it. I don’t know how much of a difference there is as I have never seen the 840 But it does give a much better view! The hardest part of the installation was getting the cable through the rubber door snake. After that it’s pretty straight forward.

I just ordered the G840s. For those of you that wired it to the footwell INT2 switch, I’ve read that it is 12v vs the 5v requirement. How did you deal with that? I thought everything we needed was in the box.

You will need the hardwire kit, it includes a transformer. Or you’ll need to wire in a 12v socket and plug in the lighter socket power supply that comes with the kit. You can’t wire it directly. Also the mirror is very picky about power. I plugged it in to my accessory USBC socket that I’ve installed and it wouldn’t turn on.

I also ordered the 67 Designs bracket. That made the install very clean.

Thanks for your response. The one I ordered apparently has an upgraded USB C power supply. Is it powered by USB C or is that what plugs into the mirror and the power still coming from cigarette lighter?

The USB-C end is the mirror and the cigarette lighter is the other end.

Thank you. I’m going to return this and order the G900 from Wolfbox. Now that I have to order the hardwire kit for $22 extra and am charged taxes, i’d rather have the full kit from wolfbox. Thank you everyone

If you got the “upgraded” power supply it is USBC at the mirror and 3 wires to the power supply. 1 Red ACC power you choose, and/or the power in the footwell. Yellow B+ Supply or constant 12V signal, I pulled from the clock fuse for that. And Black, Ground(-)also available at the supply in the footwell.
I did not wire in to the reverse signal because one back up camera is enough.
12V constant is the top 5A fuse in the fuse box under the key switch

I looked at the available kits, and theres an OBD2 kit. That would end up being power on all the time.

Any strong opinions on that? I'm not an aftermarket electronics guru.

I have no strong opinion one way or the other on OBD Power, I can’t find what tells the mirror to power down when its only source is a constant 12v power source. Maybe someone else can chime in on that. From ease of installation point of view it certainly would make it more “plug and play” if to go that route you could get yourself a OBD port splitter, that would make it even cleaner and not have to unplug to do diagnostics.

These fuses work for me.The mirror powers on with ignition straight away and powers down 5 mins after ignition off. Parking mode works too.
Be aware that if the two wires are reversed, the mirror seems to work fine but there is no parking guard as per attached chart.

To fish the camera wire to the back of the rig, pop off the plastic cap in the center of the rear roof covering the body side of the latches, then take out the upper center console by removing the rear fascia piece, and accessing two t20 torx screws at the rear. This fascia is held on by the faux Allen screws and center snaps you cannot see and have to pry down. I suggest plastic trim tools. When these t20s are removed gently pry down at the rear and switch plate will swing down pivoting at the front.

To fish, put a slight end curve on a steel fish to work around any roof structures and you’ll pop out at the roof center console. I added an extra pull string to make any future pulls easier.

To get the unit side of the camera wire out to the windshield, I just stuck the pointy end of an 18” tie wrap up from the windshield side, taped the connector on, and gently pulled working it thru the gap.

Oh, and the disposable snaps holding the rear plastic are stronger than the cover itself, so if you’re like me, you’ll be repairing it with epoxy later.

The rest others have demonstrated. Pick your poison drone there.

This was in response to my inquiry about the OBD2 power source option...

Thank you for reaching out to us.

It's the same as a hardwire kit. When it is put in place, the camera will automatically switch on and off as the car starts and stops.

When the parking mode is turned on, the low voltage protection mode will turn on. When the voltage falls below 11.8V the camera will automatically switch off to avoid draining the battery.

Please get in touch with us if you have any further problems or concerns.

Regards,

Bonnie

in my opinion, does not get much easier than something like a 12V female socket. Connect to footwell, then use the provided 12V power adapter and plug in.

Finally Installed. Appreciate everyone's input. Is there a way to not record footage? I really just got it for rearview mirror. Don't want to record and have the red dot flashing on and off.

My Wolfbox has operated flawlessly and the little rubber straps hold it on the OEM mirror with zero vibration.
I bought a 67d mount, but it’s 3d printed and quite honestly doesn’t seem like any tangible upgrade from the straps.

message me if anyone in the USA wants the 67d mount new in the box for $55 shipped to their door.
