Where is the sensor for the dash board temp gauge

I wonder where the sensor is:
In the short circuit around the cylinder where the temperature rises quickly ?
Or in the general coolant circuit?

I think it is in the short circuit, my daahboard temp gauge hits normal in a mile, but the engine temperature gauge takes 8 minutes or 8 miles to get to operating temperature

Good point: I had not thought of comparing the 2 infos !
 
In a similar vein, I notice the fuel level percentage buried in the vehicle info settings menu does not consistently agree with the fuel gauge.
Interesting, I did not know there was a fuel level info in the settings menu.I'll check mine🙁

Could you possibly advise how to access engine temperature: tried settings, seen gearbox and t case temp but no engine temp !

Ah, you must have a petrol version, it is standard on the diesel. I think it was on the petrol until a software version (1946) was installed
