Interesting one yesterday on my way to the shooting range.
I had left the fridge and everything on in the Beast for a couple of days and the battery was on 0% State of Charge when I got in.
After driving to Howard about 15 minutes away down a gravel road I pulled over to restart the car to see if I could clear some fault signs.
Power steering was Ok despite the error and the steering was operating as perfect as usual.
The headlights are always on Auto and despite a beautiful sunny day they would not turn off.
No idea if the traction control was actually working or not.
It would not allow me to use cruise control.
After driving for another 30 minutes on the highway at 110 kph charge had gone up to 52%
I stopped at a servo for some refreshments and when I got back in everything was working as normal.
After 2 hours at the range I started her up and no alarms at all.

More than likely this is NOT a contributor to your low volts wackiness, but I spent a recent weekend frustrating away at the Auto headlights trying to get them to turn off during the clear sunny days. No harm in them being on, it was just me trying to not lose the fight. I eventually gave up and used the O.F.F. position instead 👍

On Sunday evening after we got back home I cleaned out the car and removed the local tourist map from the top of the dashboard where I had placed it in easy reach - right on top of the cabin ambient light sensor 🥴

Some days I'm as sharp as a Nerf dart.

The only thing on top of my dash is a lot of dust.

Finally got my HAM radio installed. Fished the antenna coax (the very thin type offered by Diamond) through the left side roof power grommet, down the b-pillar (behind the airbag), under the passenger threshold to the battery box where the radio is mounted on the GP factor bracket.

Ran a longer Ethernet cable from there to the control unit mounted on an Agild Offroad ball mount over the right heated seat dial. Should be able to pull the control unit off when not in use, for a less cluttered cockpit.

Went with the Diamond K540 folding antenna mount clamped onto the roof lashing bar. Wanted a spring mount but the one I tried wouldn’t work. Maybe I’ll find a better one in the future.

Finished up a Wolfbox and surface fit USB panel (Owl) on the side of the center stack, next to the ignition.

Thanks to @Loc Nar, @AndyT for their great WolfBox tutorials: #258

and @IslandFalconer for guidance on his USB install.

I did a few things differently for the WolfBox install. I couldn’t figure out how to snake the small box that’s attached to the power cable to the same location Loc Nar was able to place his, so I noticed this small cubby and decided to place it there:

I also changed the popular location for the GPS sensor from the front right corner of the windshield to the center, aligned with the ambient light sensor. I did it because I had a lot of extra cord and didn’t feel like completely removing the right A-Pillar to tuck all the extra cable….basically it was getting late, I was tired, kinda drunk, and getting lazy😂🤪

The good news is, the sensor is completely unnoticeable when seated because of the infotainment screen. I like that it’s symmetrical also with no wires showing.

Last was the USB port. It was a good time since I had so many panels already removed.

I'm not gonna lie, mounting was not easy. I couldn't figure out how to remove the vertical panel that the USB is secured to, so I had to use shims, wire snakes, and lots of colorful language to feed the wires to the fuse box. I connected it to the 12v cigarette fuse via a fuse tap. I plan on using a 12” dual 90°ended USB-C cable which should be perfect because the phone mount is @9” distance.

OK....so this was a couple of weeks ago but just got around to doing a video.
I had my windscreen replaced under insurance for free due to 40++ stone chips.
The replacement windscreen was not OEM it is made by XYG windscreens and looks the same to me.
It cost me $0.00 as part of my insurance to get 1 replacement per year.
I then had IntegraShield (https://integrashield.com.au/) treatment done to the screen the next day.
I have to say the glass has never looked so clear and I have to use the wipers a lot less.

Is this the first report of a non Pilkington made windscreen? (would love to know the price of this compared to the Pilkington). Will be interesting to see how these hold up compared to the OEM. Can you post a pic of the brand markings on the windscreen?

Some recent modifications I've done to my Utility Trialmaster with help from Expedition Centre in Sydney AUS. I'm converting my Grenny to be my full-time adventure camper. I can add pictures later if anyone is interested, let me know?
  • Replaced the stock steel battery box with a custom light-weight aluminium version (20 kg lighter)
    • Instead of one lid, this box has two lids that pivot from the outside towards the middle (rather than one lid opening rear to front). This allows me to access either side of the box to service the stock or aux power systems independently. This in turn allows me to be more flexible with storage on top of the box.
    • Maintained the stock electronic setup on the left, minus one of the stock batteries (saved 28 kg)
    • Added on the right side: 280ah lithium auxiliary battery, the new redarc alpha charger, 2000w inverter for 240 volts, plus all the wiring, fuses etc
    • The redarc alpha charger has a feature that enables me to feed the starter battery with the auxiliary battery in case it has lost all charge, hence I could remove one of the stock batteries to save space and weight.
    • Rewired all roof power points to the Aux battery so I can run camping lights without impacting the starter battery charge.
    • Installed 430 watts flexible solar on the roof (glued) to feed the 280ah lithium
  • Installed a 60L stainless steel water tank, inside a storage cabinet, in the rear cargo space. This includes a water tap and quick-fit water outlet (for shower hose) at the rear door, powered by a water pump.
  • Storage/water cabinet has a fold down table, next to the water outlets, where I have a single burner induction cooker.
  • Simarine display to monitor water and battery levels.
  • ARB twin air compressor under driver seat.
  • 270 degree freestanding awning.
This has been an investment but it all works fantastically and I couldn't be happier with the results. There are a few things I'll be adding to this in the (near) future in terms of internal storage solutions, but I'm building as I go to keep it as simple and minimal as possible. I go on regular trips to trial and test before installing anything new.

edit: added a picture from last weekend

Hi @HugoB

That all sounds great. You've done some unique mods.
Like a good fishing story; photos or it didn't happen! (please).

And if you want to add some more weight , underbody protection 😁

Happy days! Hopefully these are half the price (or even less) of the OEM. Unfortunately as they are probably made in China the US owners will not get the benefit with the 145% markup on the way in.

Thanks to the warranty from Integrashield I don't care what they cost for the next 5 years

Finally got around to installing my Quadlock phone mount. I saw this in another post on the forum. Luck will have it that this base fits the screw holes perfectly. Just had to use two longer bolts than the OEM ones. One of those 3 minute installs that gives great value every single time you get in the car!
